And it's about time too! After 42 weeks and 5 days (if you go by the scan EDD of Oct 4th, LMP gave me Sept 30th) Evie was born via CBAC on Thursday, October 23rd at 2:15pm. She weighs 6 lbs 12.5oz. She is nursing well and smiles in her sleep. I just love her to pieces.
:
Early labor started on Saturday (right at 42 weeks) afternoon when I just kinda sat up and got the message that the baby was "done" and ready to be born. The contractions were anywhere from 4-20 minutes apart and I couldn't sleep through them. I agreed to a stretch and sweep on Wednesday morning because I couldn't take one more night of not sleeping and still having no baby. So, I went in about 9am for the sweep and then went for a walk w/ dh to get things going then went home. By 3-4pm I started to slide into active labor and by 7pm my water broke on its own. Things really got going after that and I pretty much didn't sit down more than a handful of times. I walked, I was on the ball, I was in the pool, out of the pool, up the stairs, down the stairs, I hung onto my dh's neck, I was on all fours, I moaned, I was quiet, etc. up until about 6am when I decided I'd had it and needed to transfer. The cincher was that my heart rate and the baby's started to go up, still within normal range but higher.
So, I went in and got the epidural straight off. They came in to check my cervix and I was a whopping 3cm dilated and soft. I sat around for a few more hours and got to 5cm but the baby's trace was showing some irregularities and some meconium started to show up in the water. At 1:30 I decided that it would be better to get her out safely now than to try to augment the labor (contractions had slowed considerably) which would put further stress on the baby and possibly rupture the scar anyway.
I had to get general anesthesia for surgery as the epidural wasn't quite working all the way. I left the hospital on Saturday (thank goodness) and have been enjoying the babymoon and getting used to having 2 around.
I hope to be able to trick or treat with DD for H'ween
