Home birth in Southern Indiana?

I am a first time mommy to be and am pulling my hair out trying to find a provider that will attend my home birth. I decided to home birth after finding out that having an "unplugged" natural birth in a hospital is basically not going to happen here.

I just read that "Practicing as a direct-entry midwife is still (as of May 2006) illegal under certain circumstances in Washington, D.C. and the following states: Alabama, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Dakota and Wyoming.[14] However, Certified Nurse Midwives can legally practice in these areas."

Does this mean legal home birth is out of the question for me? Can anyone recommend a provider that will attend a home birth in Southern Indiana? If I can't find anyone I may need to just have an unassisted home birth.

I pm-ed you. I'm not sure how "legal" it is, but it can be and is beautifully done there all the time.

You aren't TOO far away from The Farm near Summertown, TN. If I still lived in E-ville I'd totally truck it there to have my baby

I am not aware of CNMs who do homebirth in your region....but I do know unlicensed mws in your region if you are interested, including at least one who is known to provide the occasional UC backup. PM me if interested in hearing more
