Kegels

Please tell me I'm not the only one who pees when she coughs or sneezes and basically can't feel anything when dtd. : My husband isn't able to get much pleasure out of my loosy goosy you know what either. :

I seriously try to do kegels too, I guess I just don't find the time to do enough. I usually do them when I'm reading, to myself or dd.

I do them on the subway, that's about 40 minutes twice a day - and I still lose a few drops occasionally when I sneeze. Totally TMI, but I happened to take a look down there yesterday and everything looked just huge and bulging and purple and awful. If DH goes down there anytime soon I am going to insist we turn off the lights.

You are not alone. It happens especially after having one baby.

Best advice is to stock up on panty liners.

I haven't birthed a baby yet and I leak a little when I cough/sneeze really hard. I do Kegels but not regularly. Unfortunately, we haven't been DTD that much since I got pg so it feels like my first time all over again when we DTD now.

I recently realized the importance of kegels. I had a wicked cough that lasted about a month or so and every time I coughed I leaked....alot, sorry about the tmi. Pantiliners didn't even do the trick, I had to wear full sized pads : Now I feel like a walking psa for kegels among people I know, lol! I now try do do them more frequently than I used to.

Yes, I am a huge proponent of kegels. Do them!
They're so important...do the fast repetitive ones, do the squeezing and loosening in increments ones (like your on an elevator) do the 20 second hold (new research has shown these are especially important) and do the squeeze this muscle group/orfice! ( clit, urethra, vagina, anus- yes, you can isolate them to an extent!)

A strong pelvic floor helps to 'hold everything in' better, under the weight of pregnancy. Strong pelvic floor muscles are supple, stretchy muscles- ie, less tearing! Better control is better relaxation- so you're not counter-acting your body by tensing these muscles during pain of a contraction- keeping your muscles loose is sooo good for productive labour. Strong, focused muscles make for effective pushing. Strong muscles are easier to repair (get back to normal) for after the birth- and help with incontinence issues, etc. Strong muscles make for better sex- for both parties! And for heaven's sake- you don't want to drop your uterus!

Wasn't that enough to convince you???

but when? I just feel like my day goes by and I haven't done them. I think about it when I'm trying to go to sleep, but that's not really a good time.

I tend to do them when I'm waiting for something in the microwave/on the stove. Also during commercials when watching tv. My watch beeps every hour, and if I notice it, I'll do them then too. Anytime you are waiting for something is a good time I think. I do them sometimes when baby is kicking a lot too, it's a good reminder.

I just do 'em when I see threads about 'em after I hit new posts

Well, try to do them when you do a regular activity to remind you. Like, when you get in the car, when you go for a walk, when you sit down for a meal. Doing them in different positions is good too. Like Plurify says, anytime you're waiting for something- or try putting a reminder on your mirror. You don't have to stop what your doing to do them!

I've been doing much better. Thanks!
I just do them every time I think of it. cooking, reading to dd (especially always), driving, doing dishes, brushing teeth, and the computer.

OMG DH told me yesterday he's afraid to go down there bc he's afraid he might make me laugh or cough and I'll pee!! Wow pregnancy is sexy! LOL!

I'm bad about kegels too. We do them in my yoga class. But I forget otherwise. I best subscribe to this thread.

Definitely the computer is a great place to do kegels!!!!

I love doing kegels, I have pretty darn good pelvic floor muscles, never had incontinence, minimal/no tearing at my first two births. I definitely think they're worth doing.

I also believe orgasms are like kegel training. Same muscles contracting. Make sure you have them regularly, however you need to!

(unless of course you are trying to avoid premature labor, then ask your midwife/doc whether you need to avoid the O or just intercourse...)
