Iowa City/Coralville HMN Open House is Nov 8

It's the one year anniversary of the Iowa City/Coralville Holistic Moms Network chapter and we're having an open house on November 8! Please join us at the Coralville Public Library anytime between 2:30 and 4:00. We're planning to have a short program at 3:00 that explains what we're all about. Feel free to bring your friends and family. Hope to see some new faces!

We're a small group right now, just kicking things off again after a change in leadership. We have monthly meetings on topics like doulas and infant massage, and are also starting to hold play dates.

We're currently looking for speakers for 2009. If you or your group would like to speak about your holistic passion, please get in touch with me. (No sales pitches and sorry, we can't pay you.)

* babywearing- I'd love to give a workshop, overview of different carriers
* cloth diapers, family cloth, kitchen, mama cloth - Lauren gave a great speach on that- inspired me to go cloth:
* natural household and body care
* grow your own food, composting, eat local...

I know I have lots of CDs I could bring to show off/share and so does Ashley Miller (she's in FOIM).

I would love to see stuff about growing your own food esp. for people with limited time, skill, space.

Yay! I am glad to see the interest.

All the potential topics you've listed would be great for our meetings. Thanks for the suggestions! A few additional I was thinking of were

- stress-free holidays
- baby signs
- baby-led feeding
- homeopathy, natural first aid
- fighting consumerism
- nutrition for kids/school lunch programs
- eco-friendly books, videos, etc. for kids
- gentle discipline

I will definitely work on finding a speaker on growing your own food for early next year. I think that would be a great one to do in late winter as people are starting to plan their gardens.
