I have a developed a rash on my underarms. It's not paintful or itchy, but it's red, blotchy and bumpy, and in some places dry. My midwife suggested I change deodorants, which I did. It seemed to get better then worse. I'm currently going without, but was hoping for some insight into what deodorant to try when the rash disappears. I've tried Dove, crystal, and Kiss My Face so far. I don't think I gave it enough time inbetween to determine the outcome of the second 2 yet (and didn't let the rash disappear), but I would like to figure this out sooner than later, so any advice or comments are welcomed! TIA.

This happened to me when I was 18. A friend suggested that I use a crystal from the health food store. It worked for me, you should try it again. I saw the crystal you mentioned in your posting, it was something like that, but available at the health food store. You should go to the HFS and let them know what you're going through, maybe they can suggest something else.

I use the crystal as well and it works wonderfully .. you need to give your body time to adjust (around one month) for it to work fully. Of course if you are continuing to get a rash .. I would stop. I don't have any other experiences with other natural deodorants as this is all I have ever used, but I do know that a lot of natural beauty/health products can be very irritating to some .. and you should use caution and stop using the product if its not a fit for you. I had a very hard time with a lot of natural lotions .. and had many bad reactions to various. Sometimes less is best ! Stay with simplicity ! And keep trying until you find one that works ... I would try out the crystal again, I love it !
Good luck !
Good luck !

Have you ever tried plain vinegar? Sounds a little odd, but it works. I forgot to put on deo one day before working at our CSA on a pretty warm day. At a stopover at my MILs, I asked for some vinegar to try- I has just read something about it. I was amazed at how well it worked! And no, I didn't smell like a salad at all. Single ingredients may be the way to go...

Try the liquid version
My husband and I both used crystal stones successfully for a long while, but then we both developed 'pits of fire'
from stone use. Later we tried the liquid versions of crystal stone deodorants, and have been using them with no odor and no burning underarms either for some years now. He likes the spray, I like the roll on. Both work the same. You can buy these at Wal-Mart or Target for $3.- Meg08

Thanks so much for all the advice. I used the crystal pre-pregnancy and loved it. Hopefully I can go back to it a few months after!
