Need Ideas for Exercising with a 4-Year-Old

I was wondering if you had any brilliant ideas for working out with the kids. I try to get DS to take walks with me and he hates it. I put him in the jogger and that'll last for a little bit but he doesn't like it either. We live in a pretty hilly area so the trike never goes far because up hill is too hard. I have an elliptical in the basement but he hates it if I get on it and complains the entire time. :

I just weighed myself and have gained way too much on the two business trips I had this month! I have got to get my hiney in gear pronto!!

I just did a 30 min walk at work and will be eating a salad with spray-on balsamic for lunch. I can be more active here but would love to add more at home.

We really try to limit TV but as it is he probably gets about an hour a day with 30 mins in AM and 30 mins in PM (sometimes more if we watch a movie together . I hate to add more TV in order to exercise but I have GOT to move it, move it!

Got any ideas for how to do with with the world's most obstinate child??

can you serve lunch or yummy snacks in the stroller? Or exercise tah the park and get to play on the playground afterward. dance to fun music in teh living room?

My gym has a great childcare that my dd loves going to, so that's when I get mine in.

Have you tried audiobooks on an iPod or MP3 player? My DD used to be the same - last a bit in the stroller then want to get out, but with a couple of audiobooks or music, she's happy to just chill in the stroller, and I can finally jog! Woo!

I just glanced at your post again so forgive me if these wont work because of something that you've already mentioned (I"m writing during naptme- gotta maximize my typing )

1) jogging stroller with you rollerblading (some jogging strollers have built in speakers to plug an MP3 player in to
2) walking at a mall
3) going to a Y with a daycare
4) going to a pool
5) getting a trampoline (kids love that! )
6) trading with another mom where you watch each other's kids while you work out, alternating days
7) working out with another mom (like a video at someone's house while the kids entertain each other)
8) taking him to a ball diamond and runnign the bases
9) electronic game (if it's educational, would it be worth it?)
10) play tag with him in the backyard

I realize that most of these are not somethign you'd want to do every day, but just some thoughts...
