NJ & Flu Vaccine requirement question

Thread Starter
NJ Moms with kids in school, what are you doing about the flu vaccine?

What are the options for exemption from the flu vaccine requirement for NJ? We don't have a religious affiliation, and neither child is allergic to the ingredients, so neither of the accepted expemtions for NJ apply to us.

TIA.

In NJ the only way out is religious or medical, so if not you are basically screwed. Just claim religious, I don't believe you have to actually be part of a specific group and I don't think they can ask (they may try, but doesn't mean it is legal)...

Consider using a religious exemption:

http://www.state.nj.us/health/cd/chap14.htm

Quote:
(a) A child shall be exempted from mandatory immunization if the parent or guardian objects thereto in a written statement submitted to the school, preschool, or child care center, signed by the parent or guardian, explaining how the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with the pupil's exercise of bona fide religious tenets or practices. General philosophical or moral objection to immunization shall not be sufficient for an exemption on religious grounds.

Hope that helps!
