We DTD last night, it's been several weeks. It wasn't very much fun.

I woke up with cramps today. They feel like menstrual cramps, they ache, and my back hurts.

Trying to work, my schedule is only 4 hours. Yucko, I don't feel good.

Do menstrual-like cramps mean anything? Wonder if I should call the doc?

I'm really wanting this little guy to stay in longer!

This happens to me after every time we dtd, it seems. And lately I think it's been causing more "stuff" to happen afterwards, like actual contractions and some bloody show. My midwife said that after you dtd you can have labor-like symptoms for up to 24 hours, then they usually subside. She said if your body is ready it may start labor, but it usually won't, unless you have risks for preterm labor or something.

i hope you find relief soon!

i found the only comfortable way for us is "spoony love"
i'm well supported, and that makes the biggest difference for me.

I started trying to pay attention to what's going on. I'm actually having contractions every 3 to 4 minutes. So, Aug, I think you are right, it's sort of labor-ish. I'm not sure they are strong enough to kick me up high enough into real labor, though. I called the doctor just in case, see what she says.

My labor with DS started out as feeling like menstrual cramps that happened every 10 minutes or so. They gradually increased in intensity and frequency. If they still just feel like cramps, I would think they'd eventually subside.

Might be worth calling the doc. There are some women for whom labor only ever manifests as a menstrual cramp feeling. (And it could be that way even if it wasn't with your other kids.) But try not to worry. Drink lots of fluids and rest if you can.

I'm only really worried because I really don't want a 35 weeker! I want a big strong baby to come home from the hospital with me!

I know.

Maybe you could talk to your baby and say that you want him/her to stick around for a few more weeks. (Bribe the baby with hot cocoa maybe? I had some this morning and my little peanut went nutso! )

This from the doctor: I am to go home, lay down, drink a bunch, and go to the hospital if

a: water breaks
b: I'm crying through contractions

Note to self: DH was right, DTD could send me into labor. Guess we are done with that for a while.

I don't know if this reassures you, coyotemist, but even though I always have those labor-y feelings afterwards, they always subside. So we haven't stopped dtd, but given I am at 39 weeks, so things are a bit different!

I never had the labor like feelings afterwards until I actually went into labor! coyote, you can DTD when you are closer to your due date. Heck you might want to and get things started!

Contractions have continued sporadically all afternoon. I've been drinking and resting. Still got lots of menstrual cramp feelings, and lost some mucus plug. I think I have a few days at best if this continues. The doctor said the cramps are dilation. So we'll see, no more DTD.

more plug, more cramps, very grumpy, and now maybe a leak. Not sure, but there was a dribble w/ the last contraction. We'll see, I feel like running away.

aw, don't worry too much about a 35 weeker. Sometimes, they're stronger than we think they might be. I had a 34 weeker, she was still 6 lbs 4 oz, and only spent 3 days in an incubator. She came home with me when I left the hospital, 4 days after a c/s.
She was much stronger than we thought she was!

It either wasn't a leak, or it was a teeny one. It stopped after a bit, my pad was soaked in one area, but when I took it off no more dribbles so...still pregnant for a while.
