Vaccines Discused Tuesday 10/28 on show, The Doctors

Hi All!

I just saw a trailer for the show The Doctors, which airs on NBC. The are going to be discussing vaccines. Most of these shows drive me crazy because they are very one-sided but if you're interested.....

It's supposed to air Tuesday 10/28.

I don't know if they'll actually do it. There were 2 times when the trailers showed vaccine issue tomorrow, vaccine issue on thursday, etc. - but they never aired the episodes...We'll see...

I saw part of the episode when they discussed the Gardasil vaccine and it had me yelling at the television. I think I will pass for my own sanity.

Hmm.... I watched it today because I thought it was going to be on. I guess we'll have to see!

just_lily- I am afraid I'm going to be feeling the same way!! The clip they showed was of a mom stating her distrust of pharmaceutical companies.

Thanks OP for warning me! I will for sure not watch that show, especially if they are "discussing" (=promoting, advocating, exonerating) vaccines. I know that I would be enraged for the rest of the day.

I'm taping it, so hopefully my timer will work and it will actually tape. I like yelling at the TV

I watched it, I didn't throw anything at the TV. The two host drs, seemed to be at least a tiny bit reasonable saying they felt that parents should have a choice. A dr totally for vaxes and the woman from (anti) vax group (sorry forgetting the name) and a mom with a vax damaged child. The mom seemed a bit emotional ( I don't blame her).

It was pretty much what you'd expect from a show like that.

Interesting.....

I agree with you Eman'smom- pretty much what I expected. Although I think it was definitely more equal than I thought it would be!!

I was very impressed that they had Barbara Loe Fisher on the program. She gave facts regarding the increase in autism, autoimmune issues, diabetes, and how we need to study vaxs to see why this increase.

Dr. Sears gave several statistics that I want to look up. He claims that 1 in 1,000 people die from measles every year???? Yeah, maybe pneumonia related??? That seems quite high. He also said there were 1.9 million people (kids?)vaxed per year and 18,000 adverse reactions. I think I understood this correctly that he claims 1 in 5,500 people per year get a VPD but without vaxs that number would go to 1 in 600. Does that sound correct?

The pediatrician they had to support the AAP said that when patients are educated and study vaxs then they choose to vax. Quite the slam on us non-vaxers!! I find it interesting that I don't know one person who vaxs actually does any research on them (until maybe just recently when all the MMR and thimerisol info came out). She said that they've gotten rid of HIB and Pneumococal because of the vaxs but neglected to talk about seriotype replacement. She also talked about the big push to vax teenagers against whooping cough so they don't spread the disease- but you still can be a carrier and pass it on, correct? One thing I've often wondered about is the statement this doctor said about pharmaceutical companies making vaxs cleaner and are always improving them. Our ped said that to me and I just don't buy it. Anyone know anything about this?

I thought the mom on the show did a great job, and they didn't portray her in a bad light. I like how they agreed that you need to discuss all these issues with your dr. that it's not a one size fits all. Dr. Sears also agreed that they need to study non-vax vs. vaxed kids to get more info.

Hope that sums it up- I was trying to take notes while nursing!! I'll be curious to hear what you all think!

Dr. Sears said that there is 1 adverse reaction for 5,500 doses of vaccines. And 1 in 600 kids get sick with a VPD.

I would ask him with pretty high vaccination rates, how does that 1 in 600 number hold up...Vaccinated kids getting sick too?

I kind of like Dr. Sears, but he seemed very pro-vax today.

Oh well, it's good we at least got to see the other side, however short.

The death rate has gone up because of vaccinations. People under 2 and over 15-20 have the highest rates of disease now. And of course the disease is more deadly in these age groups. Before vaccination the death rate was close to eight times lower when kids got it.

Certainly some people decide to vax when they research, but I doubt many choose the AAP's packed schedule. I think its probably rare.

Yep.

Probably they got that from Paul Offit, which is based on the fact that ONE vaccine has less antigens (DTaP vs. DTP). Otherwise, its pure BS.

I think he was stating that 1 in 1000 people that get the measles will die from it. Not 1 in 1000 people. I don't vax and I liked it. It's good to get the mainstream public to start to question these things. I thought the mother did a great job.

I was SHOCKED. The non-vaxing mother did a good job of questioning but not looking like a lunatic(which is how they usually paint non-vaxers)!

I LOVED how the VAERS spokesperson said something along the lines "Have we traded autism, auto-immune diseases for fully vaccinated kids?" sooooo true!

What drove me nuts was how they kept saying that vaccines are SOOOO safe! And they are making them safer all the time! Well which is it???

To see them sit there and tell the mom with a vaccine damaged child that the vaccine that hurt her child is even safer now really burned me up. I'm sure she was told when her child got it how SAFE it was. If it could be made safer what business did they have giving it to children??? And since vaccines have been completely safe for 30 some odd years but also have been greatly imporved over that time what the hell are we supposed to believe? To me the show just made it clear that to pharmaceutical companies our kids are lab rats.

I also loved the way they brought up "herd immunity" without calling it that and when the mom said "well your kid is vaccinated...they are safe" they just side stepped around it...none of the Dr.s wanted to say "well vaccines aren't 100% effective".

It bothered me that they acted as if fear of the VPD's was a perfectly legitimate fear while fear of a vaccine reaction is just for the crazies or the uninformed.

Oh my gosh, the pediatrician lady irked me! And when she said something along the lines of "Honestly, the parents who come into my practice who are MOST educated about vaccines choose to protect their children from the diseases but giving them vaccinations."

Umm...durrrrr....

It's like nearly COMPLETELY opposite of that in the real world, outside of this lady's head. No offense to her but that alone was a really UNeducated comment.

I was kind of surprised that the 2 dr's with the mom were actually somewhat receptive of what the mom had to say! But that pediatrician....blah.

Oh, and does anyone here read Dr. Blaylocks Wellness Reoprt? Did you see the thing about measels? I'd JUST read that (about the way they word the statistics to blame it on unvaxed, even though 50% of the cases have been in the vaccinated) before the show.
