Postpartum Migraines?

Does anyone have really bad headaches in the days and weeks after birth? I do, I have to describe them as some of the worse headaches I've ever had in my life. They keep me from thinking straight.

I had them even worse with my first child, but I thought they were related to the epidural. I didn't have an epidural this time, so I was expecting not to have the headaches, but they are still happening....anyone else experience this?

Yep, same here. I tend to get a migraine every month about 3-4 days before my period starts as well, so I'm sure it's all hormone related. In fact, the short time I spent on the mini-pill, I had some of the most horrific headaches of my life.

I get migraines and was blessed to go 9 months without one. Well, I got a few headaches after the birth, but I get headaches related to pain killers. Did you need anything after your birth?

nak

yep! i assumed it was from hormonal changes/imbalances. i also had a completely natural labor/birth and took no pain killers afterward. they do improve after i've slept.

Yeah, I had one this weekend- I assumed it was hormonal, as I very rarely get them at all. I had the phantom smells, twitching eyelid and everything!

It actually wasn't that bad, for a migraine!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I do get headaches around that time of the month, but nothing this intense. I do take motrin and they go away but they always come straight back.

I've had a couple really bad headaches since ds2 was born. I'm also pretty sure it's hormonal.

I had a horrible headache yesterday! It snuck up on me....I think it was my body's way of putting me to bed to rest!!! Maybe you'll feel better once taking a nap.....

I've had one every day since last Saturday, not a migraine, but still a headache. I just thought it was hormonal or not drinking enough water (i get soooooooooooo thirsty while nursing).

Nothing as bad as a migraine here, but an almost constant headache-- yes. I was wondering about this, and am, as always, sorry to hear that you all are experiencing it too, but glad to hear that I'm not alone.

Mine seem to get worse when I don't eat. In fact, I'm finding that the headache shows up before I feel physically hungry. I'm still in that postpartum "I don't feel like eating" period. . . though getting out of it quickly.
