Jonestown

I just came across this yahoo story about jonestown.

How could this happen? It is interesting to hear the survivors talk of how "normal" they thought life was.

Itsn't it amazing what atrocities are accepted as normal just because "it's what we're used to".

Hmmm. Something else comes to mind too. Take a guess.

Could this quote say it all?

"After you've been in an environment that perpetuates that kind of craziness, you don't see it as odd or strange," says Yulanda Williams, who was able to escape with her immediate family months before the massacre. "We were sick, yet we didn't know we were sick."

My post just erased.

Anyway, I don't think that that situation is too close to as what is commonly portrayed. If there was actually freedom of religion in the USA there may have never been an issue. Have you read, "The Absurdity of Consensual Crimes in a Free Society"? (or something very like that). Highly recommended.
