October 08 PP- getting back in shape! - Page 9

OH! And Carrie! I think how your feeling is all relative. I feel the same way about being bigger. I feel huge in comparison to what I'm used to. But you're doing great to get back into shape the right way and I know it won't be long before you're telling us how great you look. You were a gorgeous pregnant woman, remember I told you yours was one of my fav bellies!! So don't feel bad about it taking some time to go back to normal. :

Tara, I can't wait to start on the exercises you've posted, I skimmed through and while a lot of them are things I do at home, I was just doing them in whatever way I could manage, having your tips and demonstrations is going to make it so much better.

I'm holding steady at 110 lbs. That is 8 lbs away from pre-preg weight, but I don't want or expect to be close to it at least until Elina is on solids. I don't dare compromise my milk supply. I do want to lose the flabby look especially in the thighs though. And the exercises for lovehandles are going to be done religiously. It is those two spots keeping me from fitting into my old pants. : I have so many cute pants, and no money to buy more cute pants in my current size, in fact a lot of them were given to me by a friend anyway, I have a wardrobe of name brand clothes I never could have purchased on my own as a student mom. I want to be able to wear them before it is shorts season again!
good! doing them correctly is sooooo important and i'm glad i can help you with that. also, the side bends....if you stick to 3-5lbs, you can do those everyday! goodbye lovehandles!!!!!

Thank you so much for saying this! It really helps!!

One of Stacy and Clinton's "rules" that I'm trying to follow is to dress the body I have now. I need to find clothes that flatter myself now, and not only think about being thin. I can't live in Hanes undershirts and lounge pants until I'm thin again. I need to look good now, b/c life is short and I need to feel happy about how I look regardless of my size.

That being said, it's very hard to find things that are flattering! I'm looking for deep v-neck shirts that don't cling too much, but that's tough. I'm sticking with mostly nice sweaters. At least winter is on my side, b/c being in this body would suck if it were summer!

Dh and I have worked out together 2 days in a row- just finished. I'm now baking christmas cookies. How's everyone doing?
Just got back from the gym, actually! I didn't weigh in this past Sunday. I feel heavier and I think that it'll just make me even more depressed.

I did 35 min of cardio, burned 350 calories.

I'm reallllly trying hard to watch what I'm eating and trying to make everything count, but I'm not seeing much of a change at all. Although, I know I'm not being anal about what I'm eating and we've made a few batches of cookies ourselves. Once Christmas is over I think it'll be much easier to resist those temptations.

Well, I'm on vacation at famy's right now. I've been doing horrible. No time or place to workout and I've been eating nothing but junk. I've even been drinking soda, and I had it once while pregnant but before that hadn't touched one in years.

Fortunately I'm feeling the effects of all the junk I've been having and as a result am dying to get home and back to better eating. I'm going to start making a list of healthy meals and snacks to get going on when we get home.

Hopefully I'll still have the desire to work out and eat well when we get home January 2nd.

Ugh, I feel like crapola lately. Been eating crapola due to the holidays! I'm still at 163. So much for being in the 150s for when I go back to work!

Going to really hit the gym this week and hopefully that will also help me mentally. I've been feeling really down about my weight and body this past week. Nothing fits clothes-wise, which really doesn't help with my self confidence.
Carrie, I totally understand where you are right now! I'm there with you! I'm sooo ready for my clothes to fit! I refuse to buy anything until I'm able to lose some fat! Try not to be hard on yourself! Every day is a new day and a new chance to eat even better than the day before and to work out even harder than the day before!!! Let's continue encouraging one another and working toward being proud of our bodies again! I'm excited

Anyone want to make this a resolution with me? I'm getting serious. We're about to go to the grocery store and DH is going to do WW with me. That makes it sooo much easier.

I gained a few pounds over the last month. Poo. Oh well, onward!

nak

i'll be back to posting exercises for you all after the new year.

i'm back to pre-pg weight but still have 4" to lose in my waist so that's my current concentration. i can't do my full ab workout or high impact cardio like step while wearing ally so it's hard to work on that.
Chsged- I'm definitely up for some resolutions! I think set goals might help me. Up to now I've just been saying, "get healthier" or "back in shape". They're just too general. I'm going to think about mine and then I'll post them later.

So far my vacation has been going exactly the same... Eating nothing but junk and not getting any exersize in at all. I don't even want to check my weight when I get home.

A little advice for those of you setting goals (I hate the term resolution...it's a setup for failure)...

Be specific with the goal and the timeframe. I will achieve "X" by "X date".

Set short term goals as well as long term so you can have success prior to the end goal. It's much more encouraging. A weekly goal is a good option.

AAM: I got to workout last night w/o LO's help! DH got home at 6:50 to watch the Mizzou bowl game so I gave Aly to him. I did a step DVD and then a full ab workout and push ups.

Yeah, I know it's a bad term. It worked for me once though and I lost 50 pounds in 2007

So, my goals: currently 154...still

Long term- 125 By May 1 ( our 10th wedding anniversary)
Short term- lose pregnancy weight by Spring Break (March 15) 138
This week- I'd like to be down to 152 by next Monday

Today I ate-

B- 1 pig in a blanket, strawberries, coffee
L- half sandwich with mustard, no cheese- apple
S- laughing cow light cheese on stone ground wheat crackers
D- grilled garlic new potatoes, asparagus, mushrooms and green beans with olive oil and a sprinkle of cheese
S- granola bar

I'm doing weight watchers and am allowed 32 points per day. This totals only 21. I'm going to have to figure out how to add in HEALTHY calories without eating junk food and blowing it completely.

Yeah, I agree - no resolutions, only goals.

My first goal, really, is to get into the 150s. Even if I'm 159 by next week, I'll feel really good about myself. Right now I'm at 162 even (down 1 lb since the weekend).

Long term I really hope to be back to 140 by May 1st. In 2006, I made it from 170 - 140 in the same time frame, but was doing Slim Fast which I obviously cannot do now, nursing. But I want to achieve the same weight loss in the same amount of time by eating right and exercising.

I just ordered Jillian Michael's 30 Minute Shred DVD to do on days that I don't go to the gym, and I'm REALLY looking forward to doing it. I also got her books for Christmas, and they are really helpful so far.

Well, we went out for a big NYE dinner last night to get it out of our systems. I've already lost 2 of the 4 pounds I gained over the holidays! WOOHOO!!!!

BTW- Carrie, that Jillian Michaels shred is HARD!!! I've done the first workout twice and it makes me sooooo sore. GL!

Oh, good. I need to get my ass kicked!
Holy crap, guys. Ok, did my first workout today following Jillian Michael's book Winning by Losing. Everything is 3 sets of 15 unless otherwise noted. Took me about 45 minutes!

Dumbbell Chest Press (10 lb weights)
Hack Squat
Dumbbell Fly (5 lb weights)
Sumo Squat (2 sets of 15)
Bench Dips (2 sets of 10)
Leg Extension (3 sets of 12)
Jumping Jacks (45 seconds)
Crunches
Tricep Kickbacks (5 lb weights)
Reverse Crunches (3 sets of 10)

Her workout is only 1 day of cardio and 4 days of strength training. I'm going to give it a try. Straight out cardio isn't really working for me, and I was getting pretty bored and annoyed. So, here goes!

This workout left me beat but feeling pretty good. I see where my weaknesses are and I want to work hard to get stronger now.

How is everyone else doing?

Wow! Y'all have been busy!

I didn't realize y'all had started a fitness thread and it even has its own personal trainer How cool! I just signed up for my first triathlon since 2007 so it's now or never.

Subbing...

My swim this morning was awesome. Dh had the day off work, so I left for the pool after dd2 fell asleep around 8. There was no one there for lap swim today and I was surprised because normally there are a whole bunch of "NY resolutioners" taking up the lanes like big dumb panting flailers. I think it might be because we got a couple of inches overnight of snow and Portlanders FREAK at the sight of any whiteness.
