oooo, i have a lot more to lose than anyone has mentioned yet. I gained 50 lbs this pregnancy (so no v-day goals for me ) but i also hung onto 20 extra lbs from last pregnancy....

i postd here about workout videos but got no response, anyone here have a favourite?

also, i'm just on my way to check out "the daily plate" where you can count carbs, track exercise goals etc....sounds interesting.

mt goals are to feel fit again, fit clothes, regain muscle tone and fit into a bridesmaids dress but xmas....

how many calories do u tink tandem nursing burns?

I'm using teh daily plate now since I hate the new fitday. So far it's pretty good, except it's telling me I need to eat about 400 calories less than I know I need with nursing.

I use fitday. I don't love the new format but oh well. I'm down 18 or 20 pounds total and have about 18 to lose. Bought baby a swing today and got 20 intense minutes on the treadmill!!!

We have cable and get Fit TV. Can anyone recommend any of the workout shows they have on there? The belly dancing one looks fun, but I have no coordination at all. I'm too lazy to just try out a bunch and see what doesn't suck.

thanks for reminding me, I just signed into fitday for the first time in ages.

I've got to start journaling my food. I am not eating enough. I know it.

I'm really starting to mentally struggle with being heavy. I'm getting pretty down. I know that adding exercise into my day will seriously help with this even if I don't see results right away. Hopefully next week once my body recovers a little more from this stupid stinking mastitis, I will make it to the gym! GRRR! I got sick and I wanted to work out hard core before Thanksgiving!

Short term goal is to wear non-mat pants to Thanksgiving. I'm going to see family and I want to look good! ARGH!

Oh - let me say that I am doing 30 crunches a day at least, b/c my abs are still separated and my mw told me I needed to do crunches to bring them back together. So 30 crunches a day for the past 2 days. Yippee doo.

Subbing for now... Glad this thread exists

Jasper will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. I'm still bleeding red on and off, I guess even doing the laundry will make it start up again. I have a check up on Wednesday so I will ask then what I can start doing. I am sure walking is fine though, but it bothers me to start seeing red blood again.

I think I am at 172, and I was at 190 when I gave birth. I have 4lbs to lose to get to where I started this pg, but that is 10lbs heavier than where I should have started. I still don't quite know how I managed to gain 10lbs in the month following my m/c. So that is 14lbs minimum to lose... and that was my highest comfortable weight--I'd really like to lose another 15-20 beyond that.

Oooh, good idea on the written goal list.

I want to focus on putting on some muscle mass while eliminating some of the flab I added around hips, thighs, and bum. DH likes the new curves, I don't mind keeping them if I can get rid of the dimples lol. (Although I do NOT want to keep the tummy pooch! That can hightail it out of here! ) I'll have to add weights to the exercises I was doing pre-pg. I had been focusing on lean muscle then. I don't really know what I currently weigh, I want to buy a scale but I'm a little afraid I'll become focused on numbers if I do. I was 102 pre-pg. Don't want to get down to that again, but I'm not sure what exercising while bfing is going to do. I didn't really do much more than take occasional walks in the year after having ds, and the weight came off very gradually without me doing anything else. But as soon as I went back to my job, which involved running around for 8 hours straight, weight started dropping ridiculously fast, I could barely keep myself at 100 lbs, which wasn't good. Once some of the baby weight comes off I'll have to make sure I'm taking in enough healthy calories to maintain the exercise level I want and not mess with my bf supply/drop my weight too far.

I must have upped my exercise too quickly, I was doing more crunches, and added butterfly kicks to the routine but I went from the yellowish stuff to red stuff again wrt discharge so I backed way down the last couple days.

I was 190ish when I gave birth, and I'm 166 now (one month later). My pre preg weight was 138. I personally have to work very hard to stay under 140, so I'm not determined to get back to that any time soon, though if it happens I won't be upset! I really just want to get in the 140s and maintain that. With bf'ing it seems like a reasonable goal.

Getting back on the wagon today. I've had some trouble staying motivated with the cold I had but I'm feeling better and getting pretty damn tired of the cellulite on my knees! I'm still right between 156-158 and need to get back to 138. I think my clothes will fit great there even with the boobs.

What I need is to see improvement right away. If i buckle down this week and see a good loss I can stay motivated. My goal is to walk 30 minutes a day, do 50 crunches and stay within 30 WW points daily. I'd like to be down to 152 next Monday.
wow, a lot of us are exactly the same. I gave birth at 190 and was 137 on the doctor's scale when I started. I'm at 157 now. Running 3x/week (albeit slowly with walk breaks)and tracking my foods in fitday seems to be going well, I lost 2lbs last week instead of 1, which is all I lost the each of previous 4 weeks. I'd like to get down to 130, I was 132 by my scale prepreg and 125 before I had my son. I anticipate that taking awhile though--my goal is by dh's bday in march.

Fabulous thread...

My Little one is 4 weeks + 1 day. I gained about 47 lbs with my pregnancy (my first). I dropped about 20 between the birth and the first week and a few more pounds in the second and third week. I now have about 17 more to lose before I am back to my pre-preg weight. But more than anything, I really just want my clothes to fit, get rid of the pooch and slim down these hips and thighs.

I wouldn't mind hanging on to a little of the butt though

I am going to have to check out the daily plate!

Can I join you? I'm about 6 weeks post-partum and trying to lose about 15 pounds. I'm 10 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight, trying to get down to 135. My clothes actually fit somewhat, but I just feel so flabby. I just started running again this week, went twice (2 miles, really slow) and it went pretty well. It's hard to summon the motivation to run with the baby after I drop ds off at preschool...I'd rather just go home and nap!

I'm having such a hard time with food! I had gestational diabetes, and I was on a pretty strict diet, and now I just have no desire to follow a diet. I'm still eating all the junk I couldn't eat while I was pregnant...and it's making it hard to lose weight. I need a better attitude.

Can someone recommend workout videos to use at home? I don't even know where to start.

Also, when would you consider leaving your lo at a gym babysitting service? 6 months? Sooner?

Well, I'm down one pound from last week. I had a yummy but terribly high cal burger yesterday so I'm about to get my arse on the treadmill in a sec. How is everyone doing?

Hmm... I'm noticing a trend. I do great when DH isn't home and tank when he is.

Alright, I hear I'm needed....

What's up ladies? What can I help with?

My biggest issue right now is finding a way to workout when I don't have anyone to watch or care for Ally Rae. I really enjoy going to the gym and taking a class but that's not usually possible because I'm alone with her during class times. I have a pretty extensive setup in my basement where I could do a step DVD or hit the weights or whatever but I'm not sure where to put Ally during that time. Her swing is too bulky to move down there since I use it on the main level as well and she doesn't have a bouncy seat or anything. Maybe I should just lay her in her Boppy on a blanket (hard, cold floor)??? Ideas???

I had 6lbs to lose last I checked to get me back to pre-preg weight but I'd like to lose another 10 on top of that and get me back to my wedding day weight. But, I'm not sure the weight is going to mean much since I have about 7" to lose in my waist and that's what the more important thing is to me. I seem to be dropping the weight w/o doing anything but the workouts I did last week felt SO good! I'm going to start my more intense ab workouts this week.

I need help getting, staying? motivated. I need ideas for things I can eat that are fast, low cal and relatively healthy. Everything I do has to be done while holding a baby. Everything. I've tried walking with him in the ergo but he ends up all sweaty. I bought a swing. He's sleeping in it right now but he doesn't actually sleep long enough for a work out in the daytime unless I'm holding him. I'm having to rely on calorie control to drop weight...at least for now but good grief do I need toning.

And wow! Only 6 pounds to go. Good for you!!!! I have about 17 to go and I can't WAIT to get it off!!!!

I have all kinds of faves! What type of workout are you looking for? Are you pretty coordinated? Enjoy choreography? Need something simple? Beginner? Advanced? Easy start or for the more seasoned worker-outer (is that a word? haha!)?

Motivation is hard. And, unfortunately, there's not a lot I can say to help keep you motivated. You have to find your drive yourself.....Find a REAL reason to be active and fit....not a reason like "I want to lose weight". It'll never work that way.

Fruits are always good for keeping your energy levels up since it's easily digested and has healthy sugars. Adding things like peanut butter or whatever type of protein butter you like is great for sustaining the energy and the protein is a must. Kashi bars (or whatever kind you like) are good too. Be careful with things like trail mix because it's easy to not keep track of how much of it you're actually eating since it's a food we tend to eat directly out of the package, even though it's fairly healthy.

Have you tried a low impact aerobic DVD? I know I would feel comfortable wearing Ally and doing low impact. A great one is "Fat Burning For Dummies". The instructor is Gay Gasper and it's very simple choreography w/o being boring. It's also a fairly brief workout so you could squeeze it in pretty easily. HTH!

My fave fitness DVD site

Cathe Freidrich's Cardio Blast ones are my fave but she does advanced choreography....not good if you're new to aerobics. Her weight training Cardio Blast episodes are awesome though for anyone!

There's another instructor whose cardio workouts are really good but she annoys me so I don't watch her. The show escapes me....I'll think of it and get back to you.

eta: In Shape with Sharon Mann is the one I was trying to remember.
