lexapro while breastfeeding?

I've posted in the breastfeeding forum and have not receive many responses...

Anyone on Lexapro and breastfeeding?

I think I need to go back on, but am nervous to do so with my 3 mo old son breastfeeding. All the docs say it is fine, but I'm not sure...

Anyone out there currently bfeeding and using lex? Anyone who has done so in the past?

here too. I've been on it since DS was 6 or 7 months old and he's fine.

i like lexapro, i have been taking it for 2 years, and throughout the last 7 months of my pregnancy and will continue to take it while exclusively breastfeeding my baby-soon-to-be! i took a very high does of zoloft while bf'ing DS now age 7 and he is great, super healthy and highly intelligent. i have no qualms with taking a needed med for my mental/nuerological; health. for me it is neccessary right now or i wouldn't be able to be the woman and mama i am supposed to be.

Yup, I did it with DS2. I started taking Lexapro at 6 wks of age and he did fine until I weaned him. I agonized over the decision, but I also posted here and got lots of positives. HTH and good luck, mamma. Remember, your LO needs a healthy mamma.

I am so unsure of what to do, but i know that if i really need it, that it is better for DS than if i don't take it. and for DH, and me, too, of course.

It's hard, tho, after managing to be off of it for 2 months pre preg and then all preg to go back on. i have a hard time making decisions when i'm off lex, so making this decision is all the harder!!! arghhh.

I'm breastfeeding of Lexapro, I was also on it for my entire pregnancy. My LO is fine. I say if it helps you, go for it.

i am glad this thread is here. i do very well on lexapro and less well off of it. i took it til about 35w then weaned off. now my son is 2w old and i'm just not doing great. i am thinking about restarting but nervous because i exposed the babe during pregnancy and now if i restart i'll be exposing him during bf too.
