I have a 2 y/o ds and he's getting right into the holiday spirit...already watching Thomas, Bob The Builder, Sesame street holiday movies!

I thought it'd be nice to see what holiday crafts your planning with your l/os

Heres our list so far:

holiday cards...we had blank cards so instead of buying cards we bought some stickers, and we've let him go to it with pencil crayons! they look so cute!..he loves to color so every time he asks, we put a couple in front of him...we prob saved 20-30 bucks this way too!(added bonus!)

Hand print wreath...im going to trace his hand, cut out a whole bunch, let him color then we'll make wreaths

Salt dough ornaments, he's starting to like to mix, so we'll make those and shape them with cookie cutters and let him paint them and give them as gifts frm ds

Whats on your list?

Your cards sound so cute! That is a fantastic idea!!

We have one evening before Christmas where we set up 2 tables in my kitchen, and have an ornament painting party.

We always put the year on the back, and the person's name. My kids and my neices love this, and the grown ups get into it too we listen to music, and the kids help bake cookies for the treats at the painting party

A tradition in our family is to make handprint snowman ornaments when the kids are 2 years old (that's when their hands are the right size for this craft).

Basically, you just buy a few boxes of plain, round glass ball ornaments. Paint the child's palm with white craft paint and then have them carefully cup the ornament. Each finger will create a little "snowman"! After they dry, paint on the details. I always do the obvious "coal" features, a carrot nose, striped knit hat and scarf here and there. Sometimes I add some "branch" arms and a few friendly birds resting there Each one will look so unique, it's a blast to detail them accordingly! I usually finish them off with pretty ribbon hanger...we keep a few and then pass the rest along as special gifts for family and friends.

Some of the things that I have planned for this year:

-make pipe cleaner candy canes for the Christmas tree with DS
-make salt dough ornaments with DS
-collect pinecones with DS at the local park and decorate them for the Christmas tree
-dry orange and lime slices and hang on tree and porch
-make cranberry garlands and hang on porch
-make paper snowflakes with DS and hang in windows

I also like the idea of a hand-print wreath. We might try that one this weekend! The snowman ornament sounds cool too! Thanks for the ideas ladies!

These ideas are great. I am not crafty but I want to start doing some homemade holiday crafts with my daughter. Does anyone know of a good book/website with easy craft ideas?

The crafty crow is my go-to site for all kinds of projects. I always end up exploring the sites she recommends and getting even more ideas.
