On the fibrosarc thing - what we know for sure is that some cats are predisposed to forming the tumors at injections sites. As in, injections for anything, not just the vaccines. We started carrying the newer cat rabies vaccine, but it's only good for one year. So do we give a one year vaccine (no adjuvant but more pokes) or the regular rabies vaccine (adjuvant but good for 3 years, so less pokes).
I don't vaccinate my own indoor cats for rabies because it's not required by law where I live. BUT, you have to be very aware of the risks where you live. If I lived in the outer parts of our city, I would probably do it. In the past couple of years, we've had 2 cats, just in our clinic, exposed to rabies. In both cases the cats were indoors only and without vaccines. Nobody counted on rabid bats getting INTO the house, but that's what happened. The cats are required to have a 6 month quarantine in isolation in our clinic. Not nice, and the cost is astronomical.
