No Spend Days 17/20
Money Unnecessarily Spent: $128.35
Saved up for midwife: $100 ($300 paid to midwife on 11/22)
Paid to CC: $200
Another change of plans... Friday nights seem to be bad for that :P

DP came home and we got pizza, so it counts as unneccessary spending because we hadn't planned ahead. Today was no spend though and tomorrow should be no spend except for tithe at church if we make it.

My Goals
1. Half the month with no spend days: 16/15
2. Unplanned spending 5 or fewer days: 5/5
3. Emergency Fund funded/not spent from: $243.21/$135.00 added, 28/30 days with no spending
4. Minimum $150.00 on our next debt: $150.00/$150.00
5. Tim Hortons 3 or fewer days: 1/3 I get this too because even if I got it tonight AND tomorrow it would only be my max, not over it

Key
: No spend on anything
: Necessary/budgeted spending
: Unnecessary/unbudgeted spending

I'm really happy with how things worked out this month. In Sept, my spending was just under $1000... in Oct, it was $1480. This month, my spending was way down. If I take out the car repairs (I still can't believe it, arg), my spending was $224 this month. That's a huge difference. I'm going to do one big grocery shopping trip for December, probably on Wednesday, and stick to my small weekly trips only for stuff we really need. It's a lot easier to minimize frivolous stuff this way.

Nov 1st: £43.04 food shopping, £2 weekend activity (wildlife club)
Nov 2nd:£11.61 food/toiletries/household, £52.40 diesel, £9 on a take out with a friend
(£34.18 Xmas gifts but bought with money that was given to me plus my dh spent £9 on an Xmas gift for DS2)

Nov 3rd: £7 on playgroups for this week (budgetted) DH spent 60p ( no doubt on a soda or some chocolate!)
Nov 4th: No spend! DH spent £5.05on dinner at work but he reckons he is claiming this on expenses - hmmm, we'll see ?!?
Nov 5th: Spent 65p on tomato puree for dinner tonight. DS2 was begging (literally, he got on his knees!) for chocolate at the store this morning but I resisted him and just got what we need. A rare and happy event! Also £1.65 advance payment for DS1 to have Xmas dinner at school in December (grocery/household budget) and £5.50 for DS1's class theatre trip (I guess that will come out of family fun budget). £1.09 on a card for a new baby.
£24.33 DH gas for his car
Nov 6th: No spend! DH spent £3.50 on a game of football and £3.50 on lunch.
Nov 7th: Groceries/household £74.60 - wooah, I was pretty surprised to see that tally up £8.66 McDonalds (I'm kind of ashamed to write that but I was just too tired this evening to resist DH's suggestion) £0.64 DH soda at work
Nov 8th: £15 on a haircut for me (first time in 6 mths and within budget.)
Nov 9th: No spend, no drive!
Nov 10th: £3.50 playgroup (budgetted). Recording now as I don't want to spend anymore today.
Nov 11th: Fell off the wagon!
£3.50 playgroup (budgetted), £13 groceries but - and here's the rub- most of them were unnecessary and totally unhealthy! Also £3.50 DS1's school snacks til Xmas.
Nov 12th: £1.20 unnecessary grocery spending
Nov 13th: No spend for me. DH £3.50 football, drink 10p. DH petrol £28, DH cellphone pre-pay £10.
Nov 14th: £2.50 DS school charity event. £81.45 groceries. (Although I got £15 off with coupons, so it was actually more like £100 : )
Nov 15th: No spend for me. DH spent £6 on DS1's haircut plus £3.60 on sweets and £8 on lunch for him and the kids (Yeah, you know, because I only spent nearly £100 on groceries yesterday...) Hey and then guess what? DH also spent £3 on a sandwich and £30 on petrol.
Nov 16th: No spend, no drive for me. No spending for DH.
Nov 17th: No spend for me. DH spent £1.20 on miscellaneous food at work.
Nov 18th: £3.50 playgroup - budgetted. 20p photocopying. £19 groceries that we ran out of (although £7 was treats for Xmas that were on sale.) DH spent £1.14 on snacks at work. :
Nov 19th: £3.50 playgroup - budgetted. £2 postage. DH bought gas, £24.65
Nov 20th: No spend! DH spent £3.70 on football, plus £1.65 on unnecessary groceries :
Nov 21st: £3 groceries, £55.52 petrol, £3 playgroup, £1.70 parking, £1.10 lunch for DS2 who was too hungry to wait! DH spent £2.90 on lunch that he should have packed from home :
Nov 22nd: No spend, no drive for any of us!
Nov 23rd: £33.07 groceries. DH and I have agreed that there will be no more grocery spending until December now so we are on a kind of "pantry challenge" - I'm weirdly excited about this :
Nov 24th: No spend for me. DH spent £2 on a Christmas party ticket at his work.
Nov 25th: £3.50 playgroup (budgetted) and £6 postage and photocopying - expensive but unavoidable.
Nov 26th: . Turns out DH bought a book on Amazon £5.99
Nov 27th: broke the "pantry challenge" by buying DS2 some lunch - 96p. Postage £1.86 - a necessary spend.
Nov 28th: Kids are ill so no spend, no drive. OH sh*t, that;s not even true. We got takeout for dinner after an awful day looking after sick kids. £11. :
Nov 29th:£77.34 groceries BUT this is really December spending but I did it today as I don't have time early next week. So, I'm counting this in my Dec totals - we could have easily finished Nov with what we have here. It's a lot but, £15 was stuff towards Christmas so not too bad as I also got nappies and some medications as everyone here is sick
Nov 30th: We're all sick. No spend, no drive.:

Hit the slopes this weekend (free), and was delighted to find DD's ski pants and ski boots from last season still fit! This will save us big $; added bonus - DS is all set with DD's previously outgrown ski gear.

Overall, a decent no-spend showing for November; will really focus on cutting back the food spending in December.

Bought bus tickets yesterday and today closed out my month and balanced my spreadsheet. My totals were a little off on here but the good news is that not one penny was uncounted for from last month. I did total to start plus income minus expenses and it is exactly what we have left over now. That is a huge accomplishment in and of itself

And... I met all five of my goals for the month! Only bought Tim Hortons once all month... that is a record for me for sure

My Goals
1. Half the month with no spend days: 16/15
2. Unplanned spending 5 or fewer days: 5/5
3. Emergency Fund funded/not spent from: $243.21/$135.00 added, 30/30 days with no spending
4. Minimum $150.00 on our next debt: $150.00/$150.00
5. Tim Hortons 3 or fewer days: 1/3 I get this too because even if I got it tonight AND tomorrow it would only be my max, not over it

Key
: No spend on anything
: Necessary/budgeted spending
: Unnecessary/unbudgeted spending
