how will you give birth?

Hospital, home, birth center? UC, midwife, physician? What are your plans?

Me: I plan a hospital birth with a group of midwives.

This one will be a homebirth.
My first 2 were hospital births, 3rd was supposed to be at a freestanding birth center but he didn't want to wait so Dh delivered in our van LOL
Since all my births have been risk free and fast I figure at home is the safest bet this time.

Homebirth with a midwife, God willing. I do have to finish convincing the hubby, but he's halfway there already. We're meeting with midwives in 2.5 weeks. :

This one will be born at home with a midwife...as long as I can finish convincing hubby! He read the summary on the gentle birth website and was VERY impressed and I think feels a little deceived by the medical community in general...he has the mentality that he would blame himself if "something went wrong" at a homebirth, but not at a hospital birth (even though he *knows* the risk is higher at the hospital, in our situation). We're meeting with our first midwife in a couple of weeks so hopefully he'll be fully convinced after that!

DD was born "unmedicated" (still had cervidil, 2x fluids, abx) with a midwife in a hospital.

Im hoping for an unassisted water birth at home - hubby doesnt want unassisted, but if I wait just a little bit too long to have him call the mw..then maybe..lol..we shall see how it goes.

DD was a hospital birth with an OB, an experience I never want to repeat.

DS was a birth center water birth, using hypnosis, and it was AMAZING.

This one will hopefully be at our new home (which hasn't even been built yet!), in the tub, with a midwife. :

Undecided, but going with an OB for prenatal care for now.

If I can convince hubby for a homebirth with midwife, absolutely, I already know of one! Else probably a hospital with an OB and maybe a doula or like-minded friend.

DS was born in a hospital with an OB, unmedicated, and it went an 8 on a 1 to 10 scale, better than expected.

Not sure yet, but most likely it will be a hospital birth with Nurse Midwives. I'm now considered "high risk" because my last pregnancy was a late loss (22 weeks), however the midwives say they will take me.

DD1 was a hospital with midwives (different hospital and midwives from what I'm considering now); good experience but I didn't love the hospital--there was bit too much strife. It was completely without meds and interventions; a hypnobaby.

DD2 (angel baby) I was planning a homebirth before the loss.

With this pregnancy, a home birth may be out from cost alone. We are still paying large hospital bills from my loss in June, so we just don't have it in our budget. And, even though I do truly believe in homebirth, I am going to need extra monitoring this time around.

DS was at the birth-center and hospital transfer (I labored at the birth center, and transferred to the hossy where he was born). I never want to go to a hospital again.

Ahahaha, another van baby. At least your DH pulled over. Mine was still barreling down the highway at 60 mph.

I'd love to deliver at home, but it won't happen. My last birth was far beyond perfect for me I don't think I can top it. DH is *still* not comfy with HB, and our insurance won't cover it (Kaiser) but he did say delivering in the van again would be fine. I'm game!

And since it won't let me make a siggy???

Seriously? He'd rather do another van baby than at home? I'd remind him an ambulance would have an easier time finding and caring for you at home than in a van (on the very unlikely chance it is necessary).

Love the mental picture though of giving birth with him speeding down the freeway! Go mama!

This will be my second homebirth (with a midwife). I'm so excited!!!! Before I was pregnant we tossed around the possibility of a hospital birth because we now have the insurance to cover it but DH said "no way" We've done it both ways and we MUCH prefer home

ooo- who do you use? i see i live a little south of you! yay for the funding! FINALLY. i'm hoping to use a midwife again, preferrably at home ( if she will make an exception and travel- though probably in hotel/ hospital) and another vbac!
