Is this a respectable organization or a joke? I submitted a poem for the contest on their website, and now received a letter that it was accepted for publication in a book.

They sure make it sound good... They are saying:

* I'm a semi-finalist for the monthly grand prize
* I get to keep my copyrights
* They want a permission to publish my poem in their book
* I don't have to pay anything (!)
* BUT, If I want, I can order the copy of the book I have to pay the pretty penny...

So, of course I want the book, but is this a real thing or will I send the money for the book and never hear back from them again?

Have you ever heard of that website?

The website is full of ads, and they reviewed my one out of thousands poems within a week of time

I'd say scam. I did it when I was a kid and bought a tape with my poem read on it for like $10. I still have it. It's neat to have, but not a "real" publication.

It's a scam. When I was in late middle school/early HS, I submitted a poem, and got the same mailing you did; my poem was selected from many to be published in a book. I didn't have the money, so I didn't get it. A few years later, when I was a senior, I inadvertantly submitted the same poem (I found out when I was cleaning up some stuff from my guardians house and found the acceptance papers. ) and they sent me stuff saying the exact same thing, nothing about how I had already sent it in or anything.
