New updates...

Early in the case, a local experienced foster mom told me that oftentimes in cases like ours, the state "gives the parents enough rope to hang themselves." I'm truly starting to see this. Yesterday some new details on the case were revealed directly from a source, and they are astounding. They really blow a hole in a lot of the battle, and I'm anxious to see where they lead. I think a lot will be revealed in January, and I'm hoping that this brings us to the point of no return with the parents. I truly wish I could reveal more....but I know I shouldn't....but it's eating my tongue alive. Let's just say it's really good for us, really bad for them, and revealed by one of them in the midst of a bad fight....I'm telling you: they're self-destructing as we speak.

One thing that is of concern is the paternity of the baby. I truly believe it's not of concern, because I think she looks just like her dad. But the mom reportedly keeps saying she might not be her husband's baby. Thing is, in our state, the law considers children conceived during marriage to be a product of the marriage. But how does that work if they were married, are still married, and then a paternity test proves the baby resulted from an affair? Can that "new" father work towards taking the baby? No one has heard from the "suspected" father(s), so we don't know that he would even step up, but I'm concerned that the mom would try to convince him to step up so that she can take the baby back through him. Any input?

Basically, our next court hearing is going to be akin to a Jerry Springer episode....come on, January 7, hurry up already!!
