i've been using baking soda and vinegar for my household cleaning for awhile. i've still been using febreeze (to help with dog smell) and also oxiclean's spray stain remover (kids= dirt, food, etc stains). now that i'm about to run out, i'd like to find something to replace these with. any suggestions?

At the HFS that I shop at there are alternatives to febreeze on the shelf. I use a "natural" stain remover but don't use anything for smells.
If I was going to make something at home, I would find a spritzer and mix a few drops of tea tree oil, some essential oils and water.
TTO is pretty stinky but the EO can mask the smell well especially if you use a mint scent.

I'm trying to remember if she mixed it with anything....my grandmother once said that cornmeal is good for getting smells out of carpet. You sprinkle it on (generously) then leave it for awhile before vacuuming. For pet odors, and some stains, I use borax.
