Funny discipline moment last night

I've had laryngitis all week, and my doctor put me on vocal rest yesterday. I told DD the news, because my concern was she'd think I was cross with her - we normally jabber a lot.

But no. She got hopped up on her zoo trick or treat stash (remind me to hide that before she gets home today.) Then she started jumping on my bed, yelling "Woohoo! Mommy can't talk, so I can't get in trouble!" Well, she learned that a "mom look" and a finger pointing to her room work just fine. Hopefully we nipped that in the bud, and my voice comes back tomorrow.

this brought back memories for me! my mom was on complete and total vocal rest for six months at one point in my childhood. we were homeschooled and so mom almost never got a break. we were horrible to her! 20 years later, we can now laugh at it, but at the time--wow! one stamp meant me and two stamps meant my brother. needless to say, we "couldn't hear" her stamps, even when she was in the same room.
vocal rest for a parent can have some pretty hilarious consequences!
