Well, ok then! He wants to concentrate on music.

I think it was gossip columnist Perez Hilton who said once his album fails, he will be able to dramatically come back to acting. I like Joaquin but this does seem a little drama king-esque.

Maybe he has plenty of money.

Why does this make him a drama king?

He has a substance abuse problem. He couldn't even get it together to do press for his upcoming film with Gwyneth Paltrow. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with his announcement.

I like him as an actor but I think he has serious problems

My first thought was that it seems pretty unwise to say you're quitting permanently. He could just as easily said he's quitting for now to concentrate on his music and he doesn't think he'll be back. Leaves it open to change his mind without looking foolish.

I could watch him for hours on screen. He's not just good looking. His face is appealing to me.

he is my favorite actor-- I LOVE him in the Village and Reservation Road.

When he played Caesar in Gladiator - that was one o the finest performances I have ever seen. It takes my breath away every time I watch it. Simply amazing.

As for problems, I only knew he chain smoked (multiple packs a day) and bites his nails all of the time. I guess he has an addictive personality and possibly OCD?

That might explain some of those odd interviews.

From everything I've ever seen/read Joaquin is a very private and pretty shy person. He doesn't enjoy interviews much like Heath Ledger. () How do you know he has a substance abuse problem?

Joaquin is one of my absolute favorites. I'm still bitter about him not winning the oscar for Walk the Line! I thought he was robbed. Anyways, aparently he really got into music during that (walk the line) as he learned how to play the guitar. I have no problem with someone saying they're leaving one profession for the next. You gotta follow your passion. Though I will miss him on screen perhaps now I'll be able to catch a live show instead!

ITA. if I were him, I'd quit out of bitterness just for that!

He checked into a substance abuse facility in June.

I actually really like him despite what it might seem based on my posts.
