Maybe do white with red trim, or paint a rainbow on the walls? Or do each wall a different color?
even in his own space??

The room came with a deep deep red/purple colour, so anything other than pure black will make it seem bigger.

Maybe you could paint one wall red and the others neutral or do red on the top or bottom of the walls and a neutral, like khaki, on the other part.

You could choose a deeper red instead of bright fire engine red.

You could do red on 3 walls and then do a multicolor wall like this or with red, green, brown and tan squares like this rug.
The multicolour is cool!

Awwww, yeah and my husband and I have done far too much hating on pink. We've been forcing it upon ourselves to try to feel the love

I temporarily moved some of his things that are red and green in the new room and taped a red napkin to the wall to get a feel for the combo. Still not sure.

I like oranges and green.

I wouldn't choose a color just to have a rainbow home. The fact that you re questioning it may indicate that you would prefer another color.

I love the rainbow home idea. And the right red could be beautiful! That said I have a very colorful bright green and purple room and am now beginning to add a yellow room, orange cabinets and green trim. So - I guess I, too, like the rainbow.

I would let an 18 month old choose -- from colors I'd already selected. I would not give him/her free reign with the paint chips. Nope. Sorry.

Nor would I want any room in my home to have all red walls. Far too aggressive. Sorry. And while it may already seem very small because of the dark colors, painting it all red will overtime feel very confining/restrictive. I would not do it.

I love the notion of using a calmer color on the walls and accenting with rainbow/colorful fabrics. That, I think is a great alternative.

I had a red playroom as a kid and LOVED it. The carpet was solid red, there was red and white striped/checkered (ginham?) wallpaper on the lower walls and a dark red on the top walls.
I remember that room very vividly.

My bedroom is painted a deeper red color and it doesn't feel that way too me. I have lived in it for a couple of years now. It feels very cozy but not confining. I would describe it as comfortable.
It looks okay with a lot of colors. I have some lighter green sheets and a multicolor quilt.
I would just try different reds on one wall to see what feels best if you'd like to use red. You can always change it.

Hey, I just realized that *I* almost have a rainbow house! I have a purple bedroom, a blue kitchen and playroom, green living room, yellow office, and a cranberry red and pink bedroom.

I either have to convince ddage10 that she wants an orange bedroom, or paint our bathroom orange, and then the rainbow will be complete!

This makes me happy: Thanks for making me think about it!
