Quick help!

Thread Starter
I nanny a 12 month old boy. Tomorrow he is going for his shots. However today his mom expressed concern about vaccinating. She knows I'm anti-vax. I told her I had a book that weighed the pros and cons and she asked me to drop it tomorrow morning. I want to give her some websites that also have some good information. Her DH's parents are doctors so it's hard for her to go against the medical community but she is really worried. Especially about the MMR. Any suggestions for her?

Yeah. Tell her to cancel the appointment, and don't take the kid back for shots until she has researched vaccines to her own satisfaction. A few hours skimming a book & some websites isn't enough time to make such an important decision.

Tell her to wait and then send her here! :

If it's not too late, please reiterate that it is not the law that she has to have the shots done at a certain time, (or at all) so it is within her right to withhold vaccines until she feels comfortable doing so.

"Once you give it, you can't take it back"

If her DH is totally pro-vax, this is going to be an issue (it is with me and DH). But she needs to stand her ground and listen to her instinct.

Also send her to http://www.insidevaccines.com

It is recommended that the MMR is given at 12-15 months of age. Perhaps that window of time(since he is 12 months) can give her some research time. Would she consider cancelling while she researches?
