I am so fortunate at 32 to still have ALL my grandparents. My sweet, sweet grandmother was diagnosed with stomach cancer 5 weeks ago. In that time my parents have been there (she lives on the other side of the country from me, but I was fortunate to just have seen her 6 weeks ago- before she knew all of this) and moved her and my grandfather in to assisted living (he has early Alzheimer's). She had 6 different doctors tell her 6 different things, and over the last week she has taken a turn for the worse. Yesterday she had surgery to remove her stomach and hopefully prolong her life for a couple years, but when they opened her the cancer was worse than they thought and there was nothing they could do but close her back up. She is now trying to recover from surgery while the cancer continues to take its toll and she is not doing well. They said they could do chemo/radiation just as a means for comfort, not for prolonging life, but they can't even start that until she recovers from the surgery 
It is just breaking my heart. She is only 80, which for her still seems young. She was always very healthy, never smoke, never drank, ate healthy and exercised. Our entire family always thought she would be around the longest and I just can't believe her time is up
Thank you for listening. I just don't know where else to talk about it right now. I also just had a miscarriage 3.5 weeks ago, so it especially hard with the bad news back to back. It also breaks my heart in to a million pieces for how I will tell my girls. We lost my DH's mother to pancreatic cancer less than 2 years ago. I just feel lost with how to tell them.
