Raise your hand if you have (or have had) a placenta in your freezer.

We forgot to plant ours this summer, so it'll have to wait, the ground is frozen now. By the time we're able to plant, I'll have had a placenta in my freezer for oh, about 18 months.

Do anything cool with your placenta, plant something amazing over it? Tell me about it!

Part of mine is in there. I was making smoothies out of it, but my blender broke, so until we get a new one I've got some chunks diced up in baggies. I've got the cord in there too, seperate...I didn't want to throw it away but I'm not sure what else to do with it.

I've still got my twins placentas (they're fused) in the freezer. They're 2 1/2 now. I don't plan on planting it until we're in a home I think we'll be staying in so it could be a long time still before that sucker goes in the ground.

DS1 was born in Feb. 2004, DS2 in May 2006. We just planted their placentas this summer (July 2008). DH's family has a vacation house on an island nearby, so we took the placentas up there and planted them by a tree. We meant to do it sooner but just never got around to it! It was really fun though, the kids helped pick the spot and they both placed their own placentas into the hole and then helped cover them up.

We moved with DS's placenta 4 times! We planted it the summer we moved into our forever-home. I still have DD2's in the freezer, waiting for the apple trees to arrive...

Me too. My daughter turned 2 in September. I am due in a week with the next one. Have no clue where I am going this one. I bought a vine for dd3 back in the summer to plant it under and then promptly forgot all about it. So I guess next spring we'll be planting for both of them.

DD1's placenta stayed in the freezer for about a year before we finally discarded it- I think when we moved.

DD2's placenta got planted in the front yard and then a tree went over it.

DS' placenta ended up discarded by the hospital.

What I didn't eat of it is still in there. I am thinking of planting it under DS' tree next spring.

DS' placenta was donated to a friend to use as a training scent for SAR dogs.

DD1's placenta is still in the freezer, we've moved with it once.

DD2's placenta - well, I keep the remaining pills (from the dehydration and encapsulation) in the freezer, does that count? and the umbilical stump is in there next to DD1's placenta, so whenever I do get around to burying it I can bury them together. Just felt weird to have nothing of DD2's get buried along with it.

i had ds2 and ds3 in the freezer for way too long when we'd run low on food i'd always get excited when i found it in the back of the fridge "OH a ROAST!... oh mn just a placenta".

Mine was in there for a little while.

Then I dehydrated it, ground it, and made capsules out of it.

The capsules are in my fridge.

eh, you might as well. I didn't taste it (cooked anyway, I did have to put a piece in my cheek to help with bleeding) but when we dehydrated it it smelled like liver.

I had DD2's in there until we moved, then I'm not sure what happened to it. Oh well, there will be another one in there next spring, this time I will actually plant a tree with it.

Well, we just turned over the ground for a vegetable garden next spring and so I planted DS2's placenta there.
