Do You Get Nervous for Parent/Teacher Conferences?

My dd's P/T conference is on Monday and I always get nervous . I don't know why. My dd does well in school and all the work she has brought home have been all A's. I don't know if I am so hard on myself or what. I've always been nervous for them even though she's never had any problems in school.

I don't really, but I think the only reason is because I have pretty frequent communication with my kids' teachers, so I don't ever find I'm in the position of being suprised. This year I have some specific questions for one of my children so i am putting them in writing before the conference. Hopefully that give us both time to think about things.

However, my parents have always talked about how they dreaded school conferences for one of my my brothers. We all attended a pretty strict private school that was abysmally in the dark ages about discipline. My brother always had his desk outside of the class formation, next to (touching) the teacher's desk. For conferences and class meetings the parents were asked to sit in their children's seats. You can imagine how warmly this idea was received by my parents. For the record, my hell raiser of a brother grew up to be an incredibly successful buisnessman, so my parents have forgiven him all the years of sitting next to the teacher's desk!

not nervous, but I always get teary eyed. What's up with that? I'm sure it's quite the topic in the teacher's lounge.

I don't... I already know how my daughter is doing in school.

I get nervous around "authority figures". No problems at school at all-just me. We had a neighbor who is a high school teacher and I always wanted to call him Mr. Smith instead of his first name (we were friends and on a first name basis) but I got all flustered around him anyway, when I found out I am older than him that didn't even change things. He is still Mr. Smith to me.

This year one of my kids' techers got hives on her neck while we were conferencing, so I imagine they are nervous too.

I used to get so nervous last year before my 2 year-old twins parent/teacher conferences at preschool. I held my breathe that they were going to tell me that my twins had repeated some really bad words at school -- ones that of course they would have gotten to me. I sweated bullets that they would be having a little "talk" with me about my twins language. FOrtunately, it never happened.

I don't. i've met the teachers enough by just being in the school that it doesn't phase me.

I get nervous, but I think I... well no, not me but my hubby... he makes the teachers nervous too...

"We" do parent teacher conferences with my hubby on speaker phone on my cell because with his work schedule/ location of where he is working he just can't come.

He wants to actually hear what is said and be able to ask questions too. He's used to all the fancy technology stuff, I'm not and neither are the teachers.

The truth is I get nervous around parent-teacher interviews and I am the teacher.

I've found that I don't feel that way as much now that I really know the teachers well. Volunteering at school and just chatting with the teachers at pick-up/drop-off time has made me feel much more comfortable about conferences.

As a former teacher I was always nervous about parent-teacher conferences. I am not sure how I will feel when my dc are in school.

When my daughter was in Kindergarten, I use to be nervous. By the time she went into 1st grade I got over the nervousness. She is in 2nd grade now.
