Not getting the HIB vaccine was going to kill my DD...not the disease itself...I was actually told that DD would die if I didn't let her have just that one vaccine.. It was all I could do not to laugh in her face! She also told me that they took the mercury out of the MMR, and that none of the other vaccines have any at all ever anymore.

Needless to say, it was not only our last visit with her...it was also our last WBV ever.

What was YOUR doc stuck on?
Polio, because her mom had it and tetanus, go figure.

DTaP, IPV and Hib

Our family doc is a selected vaxing, extended breastfeeding parent herself. She believes in only vaxing for truly fatal illnesses, not those that can be managed well with current medical care like mumps, chicken pox and the flu.

Just as soon as I picked my jaw up off the floor!

I also picked up DD and walked out of the office. I think I actually asked her if she went to medical school.

None. Never once has mentioned any vax and we have been going to them for 10 years. Of course hes pro bfing, anti circ, only gives meds when necessary and is a vegan. He wants to retire. I want to cry!

he's never really specified anything. his nurse said, just think about polio, it's really on the rise

once he told me that if DD made it to age 3, that she really could survive a bout w/ anything...

that's what our first ped told us about our dd. that we were basically going to kill her if we didnt give her a hib vaccine.

ugh.

eta our ped now doesnt have a pet one-she didnt say anything beyond "watch his temperatures if he gets sick, and bring him right in if he spikes a really high one"

Prevnar and HiB are the only ones he recommended to us.

My doc does not mention them at all, but we saw another in the practice recently who went on and on about polio.

Prevnar and Hib. Really nuts about Prevnar.
Well, he's only mentioned one and that was Rotateq. Since he's never mentioned another in 4 visits, I guess that's his pet vaccine.

DTaP for the pertussis component.

When DD was a newborn our family doc did recommend HIB and IPV. Now that DD just went to her sixth month check we talked a bit about vaccinations and she said at this point she wouldn't really recommend any because she is past the 'fragile newborn stage' and if she did get any of the disease she would be one sick kiddo but would do ok. I love my doc! :

Polio.polio.polio. she's like a friggin broken record with that one. We don't go anymore. The polio scare stories began to be too much for us. We felt disrespected every time we went.
