Help me remember this book

This is a young adult chapter book that I read when I was around 12 maybe? So about 20+ years ago. It was a ghost story with a girl named Heather in it, who actually might have been the ghost. It was about a family that moved into a house that had once been a church, and there was a graveyard and a lake on the property. That's about all I can remember about it, but I know that it was very creepy to me at the time and I loved it and it's driving me crazy that I can't remember more!

Ring a bell to anybody? TIA

Wait Til Helen Comes....I don't know the author, but I read it, too; I am pretty sure that is what you are looking for!

YES that's it! Thank you so much!!

When I looked it up, I found another old spooky favorite, The Dollhouse Murders, I had completely forgotten about that one. I was looking for good scary books for my almost 10yo DSD, but I think she's going to have to wait until I reread these first!

I read The Dollhouse Murders too. Another good "spooky" book was The Doll in the Garden. (I think). I also liked Christina's Ghost.

I remember "The Doll in the Garden"... I read it when I was a kid in just one day! I was so into it I couldn't put it down-- I remember wanting to get away from the noise of my siblings so I shut myself in the closet and sat on the washer/dryer with a flashlight and didn't stop reading till I finished the book. LOL.

After reading Doll in the Garden, whenever I was playing house, and somebody was sick, they had "consumption". Then again, I was a weird kid and read the parenting volume of the Bookshelf for Boys and Girls, especially the illness sections.....my dolls had polio and measles and diptheria a lot, too.

ohh.. does anyone remember a story about a little kid that moves into a big rambling house and entertains themselves with some dolls that may have been alive? Was that dollhouse murders or something else?

I remember one of the beginning chapters, the child just arrives at the house and has to use a hanky, then doesn't know what to do with it after using it (totally not imp to the plot, but I remember thinking, yeah, you blow your nose in then you're supposed to give it back??)

I loved all of the books mentioned! I may have to try to find them dirt cheap on Amazon.

Ooohhhh, I had forgotten about those books! I'm so glad someone else knew the answer, because it would have driven me nuts, too.

That sounds sooooo familiar to me, too. Maybe it was Dollhouse Murders, IDK.
