Wake her up or let her sleep??

Hi all, well DD is 4 months now and she is a pretty good sleeper, which I am VERY thankful for, especially since my son definitely wasnt when he was a baby.. Anyway, last night DD went to bed at 11 pm, she had finished nursing right before.. I woke up at 7:30 am and she was still sleeping! I finally decided to wake her up and feed her at 8 am.. Im wondering, how long should a 4 month old baby go without eating at night? I never even knew babies this young could sleep so long at a time. Im definitely not complaining! Just wanted to get some opinions on this. Thanks!

Til they wake on their own, barring medical or nursing problems of course.

With a healthy babe of that age, I would only wake her up if my breastpump stopped working or I didn't have a nursing toddler... i.e., only if I needed her to nurse down my swollen bussoms. Let her sleep!

Be careful, however, if you're relying on breastfeeding to prevent a pregnancy - fertility returns much sooner when baby is not nursing at night.

Never wake a healthy sleeping baby.

Just wanted to let you know I had the same worry! Around 2 1/2 months, my DD would sleep all night long, sometimes almost 12 hours!! It was blissful..or would have been if I hadn't been so worried about it! It didn't last..she did it for 10 days, then was back to waking at 3 am for feeding, then again at 5 am. :-)
That is interesting to know about dropping night feedings and fertility returning - thanks for that info!

Please send some of that 4 mo sleeping daughter dust my way! My LO has never gone more than 6 hours without eating, nor slept for longer than 5 hours!

Absolutely! Nothing better than a healthy, sleeping little one.

It is definitely nice... I was so sleep deprived with my son when he was a baby but I think its because I was giving him formula and it was hurting his stomach. Anyway, thats interesting about fertility returning sooner if not BFng at night... But I wasnt taking any chances anyway! lol
