: for whatever you're doing today Candice. You ever planning to spill the beans?

Also, I don't remember what Amy's flicker is ("Syma sees?") but if you go to almost any MDC blogs I'm sure you'll find a link to her blog, and then her flickr. Milkandink would probably do it.

I hope your trip goes well

Jake has a low-grade fever but he was uncomfortable enough to be awake for a couple hours last night tossing and turning and needing water. Plus I got up to find the thermometer and check his temperature. :yawning:

just west of 162nd and south of stark.

I was driving with my dad the other night up 148 and just before stark they had a road blocked off. I told my dad they NEED to move.

I grew up in that neighborhood it makes me want to cry to see how it is today. When I was a little girl, I could go anywhere, sleep in my back yard, play in the streets...now days I don't know if I would even want my child outside.
I also lived on 158th and Burnside from 00 to 06. It wasn't even as bad as it is now

I'm really hoping this weird feeling in my nose is just allergies and not a bad cold. : At any rate, it (so far,) seems to be the kind of cold that biking doesn't get disturbed by, at least not yet.

Wow, Tiff, you know? I do wonder a lot about fluoride myself, mostly because of where I grew up, and having it in the water supply. I didn't have my first cavity until I was 26. I have 4 total, (filled with amalgam, and they all happened after that. I like the idea of using a small amount to support Xylitol.
sorry you arent feeling well Hedy.
we dont have flouride in our water here as far as i know. which is good, cause i would hate to think of my kids ingesting it. but i might bend a lil for topical flouride. especially after yesterday. i had NO idea my teeth were that bad. i brush a few times a day, and floss on a semi-regular basis. they shouldnt be this bad. he said he was baffled till i told him i am opposed to flouride. then he knew exactly why my teeth are so bad.

ok, off to catch up after Addys OT.

Well, I definitely have a cold. It sucks, but I'll live.

Aw. That's so cute! Well, if I'm feeling better Wednesday, want to get together? I'm still planning on biking today, so I'm thinking it's probably not the world's worst cold, but I'm sure people still probably don't want to be exposed to it.

I'm so sorry to hear that! Just in time for Drew to finally get home, too! I hope you get to say goodbye. I know this has been a rough road.

My dad was exposed to Agent Orange in Viet Nam. I often wonder how that might be affecting him now, although not enough to invite his level of drama back into my life. Took me three years to feel semi-normal again in the wake of everything, and he's not the kind who can be held at a distance. The drama is a financial/emotionally draining package deal, unfortunately.

Ooo, can you call me? Not sure when I'll get online again. On DH's computer...while Chase destroys the one room in the house he's not supposed to be in.

It's an iBook and will be 5 in February. Seems like it is the power management unit and not the actual screen, as I got it to work a couple of times yesterday, but not for long. Today, not at all Hoping to fix it/get it fixed, but it may be time for a new one. Not that I can afford a new one.

I'm also thinking that Vitamin D has a lot to do with Lu's teeth problems, but if you've always lived in this climate with no cavities, that may not be the problem.
Personally, I'm not big on ingested fluoride. We had fluoridated water when I was growing up (and I think took fluoride pills, too) and I still had cavities. No cavities between ~13 and this summer, so I'm pretty sure pregnancy/breastfeeding has depleted my body enough for the decay to set in. I recently upped my Vit D intake, plus my calcium intake, and am trying to be better about my oral hygiene (i've been known to be pretty lax about flossing). What really makes me sad is I'm pretty sure Chase wouldn't have decay if I'd been taking better care of my own teeth.

Chase gets topical fluoride (Tom's of Maine kids paste), and xylitol as well (mostly mints/candies), but not in combo exactly. I'm interested in this toothpaste...

Poor Ru

Thanks for the offer if the iBook. I'm hoping a trip to teh Genius bar will fix it. If I can get there.

So, my dad and sis landed in town last night...well, they drove, so not exactly landed. They are staying in a hotel, and I thought they'd be over by 9am so we could do stuff with Chase before nap...I called at 9:15. Sis hadn't had a shower yet and they were JUST going down for the free breakfast. My guess is they won't be here until 11am or later. : There go my/our plans to go to the zoo today! Bah! Should have known better than to put my morning on hold. What's really sad is they haven't seen Chase in a year, either of them. I can understand they are tired from the (13 hour) drive yesterday, but come on! Get yer butts over here!!!

for both of you. Jake has a fever. Clingy, clingy. Which is fine. I am so thankful it is my day off. Although with a broken dishwasher, it took me literally 4 hours of on and off again to finally get all the dishes washed. Mike was going to do them last night but I told him not to so he could snuggle and watch a movie with me.

Umm, aren't you living in Beaverton? Beaverton's water definitely has fluoride, but not Portland's. I have no idea about Tigard.
That or a restaurant supply place. There's one I always drive by...it's around SE 11/12th and Divison-ish area.

Karen, I don't think ingested fluoride is a great idea either, especially when your teeth are already formed. And don't beat yourself up about Chase's teeth, although I certainly, certainly, certainly know how you feel. Every time I look at Talula's teeth, I can't help but feel like a failure, and if I don't feel like a failure, I just feel mad that I thought I was doing everything right and this horrible thing still happened to her precious little teeth. I do beat myself up internally, but I can be totally rational when it comes to other mamas - it's not your fault.

Oh, P.S. the toothpaste is minty, so it may take some getting used to for little ones. I used to mix a dab of it with a dab of the Jason's toddler xylitol toothpaste, which tastes like strawberries. Now Talula likes the minty. I also like that it's minty, because for me it feels like "real" toothpaste, you know, the Colgates and Crests that most of us grew up with.

yes, i could be very mineral/vitamin deficient, that could add to my tooth problems. i did have a few cavities as a kid. one or two, but NEVER like this!!!

Oh, but it's a mild mint. A vanilla mint, almost.

Parts of Beaverton have fluoride in the water, parts don't. There was a big map on the wall at the Virginia Garcia clinic. You know, so they could supplement the fluoride-deprived kids. (FTR, I'm fine with fluoride in my toothpaste, but I don't particularly want in in my water.)

We're having/have been having a tooth-brushing crisis for the past couple of months. Sprogly has been refusing to brush his own teeth, and gagging when I brush them for him, especially the inner/tongue side. He hates the taste of the toothpaste, and I've tried a few different kinds. Mint is out of the question, but he doesn't like the other kids' flavors either. I wish I could find toothpaste that didn't have any flavoring at all, but that doesn't seem to exist.

Annoying day at work today. Many minor piddling annoyances. Oh, and for those following the saga, Air Freshener Man is back. Gaaaaag. Oh well. I still have a job.
