Help me to get DH on board

Does anyone have a comprehensive (yet simple and easy to understand) article that will scare the beejesus out of DH with regards to vaccinating. He trusts all my research and is letting me make the final decision but our 4month appt. is on Tuesday and he gets sucked in by the damn nurses and pedi and then I look like psycho mom who doesn't want to vaccinate.

TIA!!!

I made it clear to my dh (a biologist who tests drugs for pharma companies! He's as mainstream as you can get) that he didn't get to be a part of the vaccine decision-making unless he did at least as much research as i had done. As a scientist, he had no choice but to agree.

It was not necessarily fear of vaccines that convinced him, but rather the risk vs. benefit. He examined each vaccine/disease and concluded that none of them were worth the risk. He is totally on board and now is even more vocal than I am about the dangers of vaccines.

Fear of vaccines alone may never work because in mainstream society the fear of the diseases seems to trump everything else. The fear of diseases is being spouted everywhere - peds office, media, government, schools, everywhere. Unless there is some actual research behind the decision, it is easy to be swayed by fear in the other direction.

If your dh is going to the appointments with you, I think you should both agree beforehand to not make any new decisions about vaxing at the appointment no matter what kind of fear-mongering and pressure is being thrown at you. You can always decide to vax, but you can't decide to un-vax. Agree to discuss any new concerns that arise at the appointment but not until you get home!

HTH. Believe me, if my dh can be convinced, anyone can.

Since my DH (and probably all men) like to see facts and rational arguing, I started with this article. Make sure he reads it online too, so he can follow the provided links! It's a very rational, well-researched and therefore shocking (if you are new to this topic) article about how the CDC and other seemingly reliable players fabricate the demand for flu shots every year. This is just an introduction to how vaccines are marketed with fear.

Then I would print out some other articles from that blog, for example the issue about the measles vaccine or the truth behind the much scared polio.

This should keep him busy over the weekend. Work your way through every single disease/vaccine, starting with the scariest to him. Good luck!

I would move the appointment if you are not confident in your dh.

My DH is a full time grad student and I know he doesn't have time to do any additional research - so we're going to watch the movie Vaccine Nation together - it's not as in depth as most of the research I've done but at least it gives him an overview of the main reasons not to vax. you can watch it for free online here:
