Teffer - sending wonderful labor thoughts your way!!

Paranoidprego - Welcome!

I hear a lot of folks saying that they love the Liturgy of the Hours - but quite frankly I'm a bit intimidated. Any advice?

I actually took a 6-hour instruction class on the LoH. See if your Diocese offers such a course.

Welcome, paranoidprego!

Hi mamas - just popping in after a bit of an absence, I wanted to say I am praying for all those of you who have asked for prayers.

Myself, I could use a bit of help as I struggle with the realization I will be sending my children to school next year. I know it sounds trivial, but it is really tearing my apart for so many reasons. Financially we just can't make it work anymore on one income, and I am also not sure I am really doing a good enough job. I think they might be better off at school, but I worry so much about the social atmosphere and pressures that so far they have been immune to, esp. my 5 y.o. who is so sensitive and has difficulty in large groups of kids. Anyhoo, that's my concern du jour. Hope all is well with you all.

She was beatified on October 19, 2003.

I believe she is officially addressed as "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta".

I learned it from a podcast But that looks like a good way to do it as well.

If you have a parish or something near you that does it, I would recommend trying to pop in to hear it live. It really helps to get the rhythm of it. I did it by listening to a podcast done by Catholic Classes. I also have a local monastary I can go to. And start slow. Just do the morning and evening prayers to start with and then add the others as you need. I love the Office of Readings. I get so much out of them, but it is also LONG and I don't always find the time. Just add things in slowly until you get a rhythm to it.

Prayers. I completely understand the finances situation. I didn't feel like I could do the homeschooling thing, but I found a program that works out pretty well for us.

ok, i know i am new here and all, but i would so appreciate some prayers. for my cousin, Dianna. this woman needs some serious help. i am asking for prayers for her conversion. she needs God in her life more than anyone. she is a cradle catholic with 12 years of Catholic school. but she is completely immersed in this materialistic world.
she is 38 weeks pregnant with her second child. her first dd is 5 years old. she tried to get pregnant for a few years. she found out she was pregnant a week before her father died. he was just diagnosed with brain and lung cancer and a few weeks into treatment he died of a heart attack in her kitchen while she was talking to him.
she feels she is the victim in everything. she complains nonstop and worries nonstop. she is always stressed out about something from big things like dad's death, to the tiniest detail going wrong (dogs jumping on leather couch). she yells at her daughter and talks sarcastically to her. she doesn't spend any quality time with her even though she has just quit her job and is home full-time. she spends her days on the phone talking from one friend to the next and ignores her child.
i know this can sound like anyone, but right before her dad was diagnosed, i was really working with her and trying to help her get her life in order (spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally - she was a mess). and she was receptive, but then the dad thing happened and she was unable to see anything except whatever was happening to her. she has not even begun to cope with her dad's death which i think will kick her in the tush when she delivers this baby.
now she is making herself sick thinking her daughter has cancer because she bruises easily.
i am not even telling you everything because i think you get the picture,.
i just started a novena to St. Therese of Lisieux. so if any of you wouldn't mind just mentioning Dianna in your prayers, i would be so grateful. feel free to tell me your intentions, i am a big prayer warrior.
just reading all your posts, i felt compelled to ask for your prayers. God bless you all!

But I am praying for everyone!

Anyone doing anything special for Martinmas/feast of St. Martin tomorrow? We're making horseshoe cookies, and since our devotion this week is about generosity, we're making a double batch and sending some to church for the college students and military care packages.

Hello all!

I've been silently following along and keeping everyone in my thoughts. I feel like I've just come through a really dark hole and am just now starting to see the light of day again.

DH and I have been trying for a baby for 2 and a half years and doing acupuncture in the last 4 months. Last month we just finally decided to stop it all and are going to look into adoption. I just couldn't deal with going the invasive medicall route at this time. We are in the process of filling out our application for Catholic Charities in our diocese and it should be finished on the 15th. It feels like the moment we said the words, stop, a huge weight was lifted from both of our shoulders.

Please pray that God sends us the child he has specially picked out for us be it through an adoption or biologically, I know he wants us to be parents and I just want to give it all up to him and let him work out the details.

Please pray for my patience and understanding as well!:

I'm sending you all my thoughts and prayers as well.

Blessings and Grace!

Howdy everyone. I don't know how I missed coming over and subbing, especially after all the discussion I was reading through the digest, but I'm glad I finally logged into MDC and found this thread.

It was neat to read the whole thing, though, and follow all the excitement, especially as so many of you seem to be having your / our prayers answered as I read!
