So I'm feeling kind of under the weather. Ive been thinking that I must have an allergy to something but can't figure out what. Come to find out my disgusting roomate has had a dead lizard in her room in its cage for atleast three weeks. Now I'm not sure if this is related at all i have a runny nose small fever sore throat and i'm kind of exhausted feeling. Also I'm sure she wont do it (obviously) so how do I go about getting rid of the thing? eew I feel so bad for her son he sleeps in that room.....

WTF?
tell her to dispose of the remains ASAP!!
what the heck is wrong with her? If she won't do it, wrap it in a plastic bag and put it out with the trash. I can't believe she'd have to little regard for her pet and for you.

My dh suggested calling the ASPCA. (in case it died of neglect)
I would just cart the whole thing, container and all, outside.

Depending on the size, I'd wrap it in an old towel or paper towels, and bury it somewhere.

If your feeling sick, get checked for samonella!!!! Lizzards are known carriers!!! I'm gonna google the symptoms now, I'll post back with what I find!!
For now use rubber gloves and get rid of the thing as fast as you can!! Bleach everything to kill the bacteria!!

I just got this off of wikipedia!
Salmonellosis is an infection with Salmonella bacteria. Most persons infected with Salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. In most cases, the illness lasts 3 to 7 days—most affected persons recover without treatment.[1] However, in some persons the diarrhea may be so severe that the patient becomes dangerously dehydrated and must be taken to a hospital. At the hospital, the patients may receive intravenous fluids to treat their dehydration and medications may be given to provide symptomatic relief, like fever reduction. In severe cases, the Salmonella infection may spread from the intestines to the blood stream, and then to other body sites and can cause death unless the person is treated promptly with antibiotics. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness. Some people afflicted with Salmonellosis later experience reactive arthritis, which can have long-lasting, disabling effects.
Your syptoms don't sound like samonella, but a decaying animal is still a major health hazard!! I'm sure it is effecting your sinuses and making you sick. If it has been in her sons room all this time, I'd call child services, this is child endangerment at the least!!!!

yuck. I'm going to guess it's small because when my medium sized lizard died last winter the dead smell took over the whole house about 2 days after he died (he hibernates which is why we didn't realize he'd died). I froze him until the spring when I could give him a proper burial...he was 17 years old! RIP Charlie
Anyways, yeah put on some gloves or cover your hands with some plastic bags and just scoop it out. You could throw it outside and let the birds eat it. I guess that probably sounds gross but it seems the most natural thing to do since that's what would happen in the wild, kwim?
