visiting and looking for fun activities in Phoenix

We are visiting family in Phoenix from Nov 23-Dec 2. Looking for fun things to do or see with older grandparents or by ourselves! We have a 3yr old and a 6 mo old. (From Minnesota) I would love to show daughter "southwest" sort of activities. Any pick your own orange orchards or cactus parks or short hikes that anyone recommends?

We are staying in the Peoria area but we will drive within reason if worth it!

Also staying in Rimrock for a couple of days.

You might enjoy the Desert Botanical Gardens.

Not exactly a SW activity, but the Phoenix Zoo is next door to the Desert Botanical Gardens. The zoo does have a section for SW animals.

I was going to recommend the zoo, too. This is a lovely time of year. You might also check out some local hiking trails and do a morning hike.

If you go to the Botanical Gardens be sure to take some photos of your kids next to the giant cacti!

We really enjoy hiking the White Tanks. If you go after a rain there is a good chance of seeing the water fall going. Stop at the vistor's center for maps and info first though. They will know if its going.

You might enjoy a trip to Pioneer Village or Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. Also if you are looking for something more touristy you can do Rawhide. Esp if you want a nice dinner.

The zoo will probably have Zoo lights then if you go. Thats a treat.
