November room Challenge- Kitchen! - Page 4

The progress looks great CanidFL! I WOH FT too and there have been times where my kitchen has looked like that. I should post before pics of my pantry to make you feel better! Now there's a nightmare. I'm hoping to get that done this week.

I know its late but I am determined to make use of a few days off! All of you have inspired me to get organized

I am in the middle of redoing the 3 junk drawers in hopes it will get the mail and electronics off my counter. We really need an storage/credenza away from the counter that collects the mail, holds my purse, keys, holds the charging cell phones but we can't afford to buy storage unit just yet.

I also want to tackle the pantry. I need to put the pills higher away from DS and organize the spices.

There is a lot of kitchen tools and gadgets taking over the counters.

DH is going to go through the liquor cabinet , goal:keep 25%. It will give us a whole cupboard back!!

Nolansmum- I am loving how you pulled the orange and blue together. I think a patterned rug (with orange, blue, white, other bolds) would really look awesome under the table, maybe a matching one in the actual kitchen. Maybe throw those flowers into a blue vase and pull it further away from the flower art on the wall. That way, you'd get a punch of blue on the counters while dispersing the orange a bit also. Keeping satsumas in the bowl (on the table) would be adorable. Oh, I think the window needs a covering also to make the space feel finished (I'd do a black rod to pull the black over there).

Very cute and funky!

I LOVE seeing other people's spaces! :

SAHDS, thanks for the suggestions! I am a rug-o-phobe, I hate cleaning them and so I use them very sparingly. we do have a rug in the family room area adjacent to the kitchen table, but a rug will not go near food with a 3 YO!

I cleaned out the 2 pantries today:. I threw away 2 bags of stuff, I cannot believe how quickly junk piles up! I am famous for sticking things in a drawer or behind a door to 'deal' with later.

Ok, I finally uploaded some photos of the kitchen improvements.

And an extra project that I did the weekend before Thanksgiving was to fix up a storage space in the hall to the basement. I had been using this as haphazard storage for DS' outdoor toys and a pantry.

Now that I have a designated pantry space in the basement, I decided to give this spot a face-lift too. See the after photo below.

Now that we no longer use the back door, the shoe/coat/bag clutter is located in the hallway to the basement/side door (http://www.flickr.com/photos/archymo...7608688239541/). I am happy with this arrangement for the winter. I still have a small pile of mail on the counter - but that is pretty much the only clutter any more. I go through the mail every other day or so. I haven't figured out a better system for this. Boxes/baskets for mail just invite more clutter - I've tried it before. If you have a great system, please share .

Okay, so it'snot completly done (still no window tretments), but I guess my time is up.

Here are some pics:

Eating Area

Not used too much. DH will sit here wile I cook and/or clean to keep me company.

And for those who remember, this is one of my Pottery Barn rugs from Craigslist. Cobalt/Navy blue is my FAVORITE color and is paired with cranberry red throughout my home.

I love this table sooooo much. So pretty.

Right side of kitchen/Breakfast Bar

The kids eat breakfast here and I like it clear and uncluttered. I need to find a new home for the phone, I HATE it just sitting on the counter.

Oh, and feel free to ignore the dishes in the sink.

Left side of kitchen

I love my fridge, stove and baking counter. Th microwave is WAY too advanced for me and I literally use the "defrost" and "add one minute" buttons only, LOL.

Oh, and I made those chocolate cookies (with peanut butter chips) tonight. I wish they were always on my counter!

My rug is in the dryer (oops).

I want to say living room but the more I think about it, the better I think it would be to wait until January. I like Christmas decorating though.

I really haven't checked back in with this thread since it started, but my kitchen IS cleaner! I got rid of a ton of stuff from the counter that the microwave is on! I'll post pics later! I like the idea of the Christmas thread! I have been following it and enjoying everyones' decorations! and maybe in January we go for the living room because we all know it will need it by then!
