I want to knit a simple dishrag but I am not a knitter. I need to know what stitch to do.... can someone help me? Is it all knit, knit-pearl????

I don't want one that has a pattern, I just want to do one as simply as I can

The one I do starts with 3 stiches. Make 1 for three rows til you have 6 stiches on the needle. Then you do Knit 3, yarn over, knit the rest of the row. When you have 50 stiches on the needle, switch to knit 2, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit the rest of the row til you have 6 stiches on the needle. Then do a knit 2 together per row til you only have one stitch left. Pull it through and you are done!

Hope this makes sense!

I crocheted & knitted a bazillion washcloths last year ... cathartic ... anyway, my favorite texture is the one that Twinklefae is describing. (I have a pattern that was handed down from Granny.) I use Sugar'n Cream cotton yarn, that I get from Joanns. I like working with this yarn, but some people don't. If you wash them in hot water, they will fade, but they won't bleed onto other things, at least.

If you're having a hard time visualizing her explanation: you're doing only knit, and it is on the diagonal.

I found a picture:

I use sugar and cream or the knockoff brand that is just like it, and I just cast on until it is the width I like.

I do all knit stitches until it's the size I like, but if you google you can find lots of patterns for different ones, and you can do pretty much any stitch you like for variety.

When it's the size I like, I cast off and weave in the ends. Simple. I knocked out a gazillion of these last year while waiting to pick up the kids at the bus stop from school.
