Vaccines, Sodium Benzoate, and Mito Dysfunction

This is something I only recently considered in the whole vaccine-autism topic.

Please bear with me here. This is a little involved.

Ok...first up...

Mito Disfunction and Vaccines-Autism

So many of you may remember that a few months ago the US government conceded (admitted) that vaccines caused one little girl to develop symptoms of autism (keep in mind, autism is merely a set of symptoms.)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-...i_b_88323.html

One of the concerns brought up in this case is that the girl had a rare mitochondrial disorder which may have predisposed her to vaccine injury. Here's a quote from David Kirby's article on this:

"Mitochondria, you may recall from biology class, are the little powerhouses within cells that convert food into electrical energy, partly through a complex process called "oxidative phosphorylation." If this process is impaired, mitochondrial disorder will ensue.
The child in this case had several markers for Mt disease, which was confirmed by muscle biopsy. Mt disease is often marked by lethargy, poor muscle tone, poor food digestion and bowel problems, something found in many children diagnosed with autism."

Next:

Sodium Benzoate

Now, fast forward to last night. I'm a bit of a freakazoid label reader when it comes to my food, and I was googling a preservative I noticed in my coffee flavoring...sodium benzoate.

Here's what I found on Wikipedia:

*

So this concerned me, especially its links to decreased intellegence in children! But did you catch this part? "sodium benzoate by itself can damage and inactivate vital parts of DNA in a cell's mitochondria."

So then I started searching for products which contain sodium benzoate, because with these possible health concerns, I'd rather not let my children have it.

Anyway, guess what sodium benzoate is in?

infant tylenol:

http://www.tylenol.com/product_detai...questid=213380

ingredients: cellulose, citric acid, corn syrup, FD&C Red #40, flavors, glycerin, purified water, sodium benzoate, sorbitol, xanthan gum

infant mylicon:

http://www.mylicon.com/products/

Carboxymethylcellulose sodium, citric acid, D&C red 22, D&C red 28, flavors, maltitol, microcrystalline cellulose, purified water, sodium benzoate, sodium citrate, xanthan gum.

Is it possible that we're interfering with children's mitochondrial function by giving these infant medicines which contain sodium benzoate along with so many vaccines...and inadvertently predisposing them to vaccine induced autism or other neurological impairments?

Also, is anyone else shocked to hear that this questionable ingredient is included in infant medicines and does this make you feel less inclined to give it to your children?

Yikes! Excellent piece of research.

Dr. Benjamin Feingold mentioned all food additives as causes of hyperactivity back in the 1970s, research done nearly forty years ago. He did not specifically mention sodium benzoate, but he pointed to all food additives in general. Many doctors today ridicule his research, but many mothers still praise it.

Good research, but it is nothing new short of common sense.

Great job, Kellie!

It is certainly and eye-opener although I don't believe it is for big pHARMa. I really believe they know all that. Why would they inject our kids and encourage Tylenol afterwards?

Well, they would not be the richest conglomerate in the world if they were not so ruthless. They certainly don't want us dead, but also not well. Just sickly and dependent upon them from birth to final death.

I have never understood why it is so insisted upon that what food (and drugs) we feed to our children will not affect their behaviour. Doctors always insisted that it had nothing to do with anything, but when my brother had orange soda as a kid he would bounce off the walls. It was strictly banned from our house.

Tylenol has also been linked to asthma, although there are still a lot of questions as to whether or not is is corelation or causation.

My current suspicions is that tylenol use is corelated to vaccinations, and that is where the real risk lies.
