Ongoing Alaska Chat ~ New for November! - Page 5

Yeah, it took us about 3 hours the other night, but we were also still learning. And Aiden, especially still needs a bit of help with it (he's not quite 6 yet), but it was lots of fun. We often have a hard time finding games to play as a family that DH enjoys.

Does anyone know of anywhere in the Valley that has available cow shares? We're looking for raw milk.

Ugh, I keep losing you guys because I don't remember to look for the new month's thread! I'm so far behind, and don't think I'll catch up to where y'all are at, so I'll just start with HI!

I know. Just as soon as I find y'all I'm going to lose you again. But I won't be around for most of December anyway! We're going to TX from the 12th through the 28th to spend holidays with DH's family! It's going to be so strange not having a white Christmas.

Wish me luck, ladies! I am flying out of Anchorage early Friday morning all the way to Orlando with a 21 month old on my lap and then driving 6 hours to my grandparents' house. My opa passed away last night and so we're going for his funeral. The older two kids are upset that they can't go but it is just too expensive to fly all of us. Natalie only gets to go because it is easier for me to take her than Andrew to deal with all 3 kids. And I think it will do my oma a lot of good (and my mom) to see her, as they have had so little time with her. And the fact that I don't have to pay for a ticket for her. But, on the plus side, my ticket to Orlando only cost $25 because I had just enough miles to get a free ticket. Oh, and gas down there is below $2 a gallon, so putting gas in the rental car isn't even going to be that much.

Someone PLEASE tell me about Black Friday deals in Anchorage. I usually avoid Black Friday like the plague- but this year I think I need some deals- I haven't done ANY gift purchases yet, and since Thanksgiving seems to be a week later this year than previously, well, I don't have my tree up yet- or ANYTHING...

Help a girl out? I am thinking of buying the boys a group gift like a Wii maybe and some individual games- not entirely sure, though.

ETA: really sorry about your loss Tallanvor.

Thank you Tammy & Stephanie! I'm looking forward to the warmth, but it'll be hard as this is the first holiday season without my mother.

Sorry for your loss Tallanvor- safe travels

I have no clue about Black Friday deals... I can't handle stores on the weekends, much less mega-shopping days. Good luck though!

Anyway, just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!! Can't wait for some PUMPKIN PIE!!! :

last mintue birthday shopping on Black Friday was the dumbest thing I ever tried to do! LOL!

I was at Costco (Debarr & Bragaw) this morning at about 10:30. I have never seen the lines so short on a weekend. Don't know if it means that shoppers where everywhere but Costco, but I wasn't complaining. They had some good "instant rebates" on electronics. We've needed a new camera for a while. (My old one works sometimes). So I got a new one, retails for $399 for $270. Woo-hoo, christmas shopping is over except for some Bear Tooth/Moose Tooth gift cards for the nephews.

Yeah, but I went out shopping for about an hour yesterday morning. People were shopping, but at least REALLY nice here. I didn't get any GREAT deals, but considering one of my ds' wanted something that was out of stock online at multiple places, I was willing to pay full price for the last one on the shelf. (actually he wanted two things that were the last ones on the shelf). I saved the reciepts- if I find them on sale elsewhere I can always return them but at least I won't end up empty handed on the BIG day..

First time this ds ever asked for something SPECIFIC. Usually it is a game for his Nintendo DS or a wooden truck or something- you know I can fill the bill with a couple of different options.. This time it was a Star Wars Storm Trooper talking helmet and blaster (it shoots nerf pellet things). This was me..
