He says the risk of complications goes up. But I'm not having any symptoms of anything yet. My first kid and I'm hypothyroid, from a family full of late babies ( I was 3 weeks late!) so why is 42 weeks such a critical number??
do your own research. you dont have to agree to an induction. i admit that at 42 weeks 5 days i was getting concerned. im adopted so have no idea of my family history but this was my 4th child..my first 3 were 38, 39 and 41.2...all over the place (actually longer w/ each pregnancy). lol!

i would be ok w/ a sweep or having my water break at that point but w/o a true medical concern, not an induction (esp w your family history).

another NST for me today- baby and me are still looking good! but they scheduled me for an induction on monday morning- I'm still not quite a centimeter dilated. When I asked for the reason why (3 times) I was told it was malpractice to let a woman get to 42 weeks. : I asked if what was indicating a medical need to induce, and I was told again, medical malpractice. que?

I may end up as a fugitive from the L&D ward on monday morning...

yeh their med. malpractice should not take your birth away from you.

hang in there.

sending lots of labor vibes your way so that you won't be faced with that decision on monday morning! I just had a friend that finally agreed to an induction after a few days post dates and you can imagine how it ended..... Don't set yourself up for a bad outcome if you don't have to! Hang in there momma and trust your instincts, your body, and your baby!!!

EVERY LABOR VIBE I CAN POSSIBLY MUSTER!!! :

thank you! I'll take all the help I can get ! I'll keep y'all posted- I have no idea of the reaction I'll get if I don't show up monday morning. It may be a moot point if I go into labor this weekend anyway!

so, do we have any other October DDC mamas who are still lurking? I know I can't be the only one left...

Not the only one left-- see my siggie.
Now that the sewer pipe is fixed and we can flush and bathe again, I'm sure I'll be able to get relaxed enough to birth within the next couple of days. These contractions are really starting to suck. Bad. They were consistant Wed/Thurs until the plumber said yesterday that it would be today before it was all fixed Then I only had 4 or 5 contrax last night, but we got the toilet a new seal and I have almost finished sticky-tiling the bathroom floor
Anyway, all day today, tons of contrax, no sign of a mucous plug, and every time the babe moves, it sends shooting pains down my legs and thighs. If i weren't so hell bent on going natural, I would seriously be considering that induction-- I'm pretty miserable right now... but that could actually be a good thing
I'm supposed to be getting a non-stress test Monday morning *sigh*
The OB doesn't want me to go past 41 weeks (been talking about it in Birth & Beyond)... and I don't even want the OB :

It's really picking up now. Contractions are coming every 3-5 minutes and gobs of mucous. Surprisingly, just a little pink tinge-- I was sitting in a puddle of blood with #1 by this point-- goes to show how those cervical checks can really screw with ya. I'm excited, but hoping for a little sleep tonight. I still feel like I'm at least a day away, but who knows. It could go faster
