I'm not sure what to think about this.In the first tri I though I might be expecting twins, i was bigger, a little sicker..etc...Well we only found one heartbeat,so I dropped the idea. But as I get bigger and bigger, and the baby is more and more active,OTHER people keep bringing up twins!Last night my sisters and I were playing with the baby,it kept sticking it's butt way out by pushing a foot(?) on my hip bone,my sisters could feel both parts and thought it was crazy.Well, I had one sis with hands on the foot and the butt and another sis just moving the baby around sortof, and she felt another big butt!Like a whole back-a big something further on the side, kindof behind the baby sticking its butt out.I don't know what to think!Could it be a huge, hard placenta?COULD it be another baby?It can't be the head, cos I still feel the head on my pelvis bone, causing all kinds of sensations....There are a bunch of 1/2 belivable twin clues, lots of movement, size, weight gain(2lb. a week for a couple months now)Extra discomfort, baby dropped WAY early, strong sense of each gender, and just an overall unusual preganancy for me.Most of this I've written off as emotional shadowing from our last loss, but now, I'm not so sure....I'm really confused and not sure what to think!Dh and I even talked about an ultrasound!(Dh is freaked out about conjoined twins)I'm calling our mw today anyway, so I'll chat her up about it, but sheesh....What's a mama to think!?

could it have been the double knees together producing what seemed like two buttocks?
i hear you htough. early in this pregnancy we also had the twin feeling going on. we both had a strong sense, and like you even picked out names. i was growing faster and had double the ms and fatigue. i kept having twin dreams, even before i was really focused on it. then, around 9 weeks i felt a strange sensation on my completely left side. my back cramped for 3 days, and my abdomen was sore to the touch, yet strangely no bleeding.
at 13 weeks we had an ultrasound for dating purposes, no other baby was "seen" and the baby that was seen was completely on my FAR right side. during those 4 weeks i lost alot of symptoms, the ms and fatugue let up considerably, growth slowed to how it was, the twin dreams stopped entirely...still i have measured 6 weeks ahead of my ds's girth measurements steadily through the entire pregnancy until now.
i have wondered if we had Vanishing Twin syndrome with the twin that did not survive being absorbed back into the placenta. it is hard as i have had no medical proof of a twin pregnancy at all, no double heartbeats, no ultrasound around the time i believed we were carrying two...just that one an entire month later. i have wondered if i was completely dumb mourning the loss of one child. i have daydreamed about maybe, just *maybe* we might have two stashed in there somewhere...? how would the homebirth go if a second popped out as a surprise instead of a placenta lol? one thing for sure...if we'd discovered a twin earlier, we would have risked out of our HB...maybe not knowing would be God's way of still granting us the HB? I have no idea...and then i chide myself. I'm probably just being stupid.
i am still measuring bigger than all my other pregnancies. i have asked my MW if i could just have a lot of water in there, or maybe a relly large placenta and she said no, "that's all baby in there when i map baby out" what if i have another stashed behind the first baby, snuggled up between the first baby and my taiolbone or backbone? maybe this is why it is never felt, or heartones never picked up?
i have a friend who had identical twin girls and they didn't know for the longest time as one was lying exactly behind her sister and couldn't be touched or palpitated, and they both had the exact same heartrates.
i don't know about me..or about you. but wouldn't it be super neat? i'd love twins. i'd just love it!

It IS crazy isn't it?It could not have been the knees, as the baby was kicking off the right hip, and the "other" back was on the far left, almost to my back.I really am wondering if there is a baby right behind this one.We are also planning a home birth, but our mw has done lots of twins.
I actually scheduled my first ever ultasound.Very surreal.I guess we really WILL see!
I would also be happy with twins. We'd have 6 kids and a great reason for dh to have a vasectomy and be done. Also, if there's boy/girl, we won't have to break our tie, and everyone will be happy!Crazy, but happy. Also, it would be really nice to have all the oddness of this pg MEAN something! And I would feel like our mc/blighted ovum was really ours and we got her back....

Wow! That would be an interesting follow-up after the ultrasound. I thought I had boy/girl twins with my last pregnancy. Just a strong feeling. But nope. It turned out to be Irish twins though. My guess is that my body just couldn't do real twins and does Irish twins instead.

tatiana-I know, there is always a maybe....right?I've been making excuses all pregnancy for it NOT to be twins, but it won't go away!I think I'd be fine without the ultrasound, but Dh made a point that what if it's conjoined twins, and that is why there hasn't been obvious twin movement...I do not want to be in mid birth at home to be transfered for conjoined twins or a stuck baby....Yikes!!!!The appointment is on Wed at 1 pm.However, it is in mw's community, so a 2 hr drive away.I'm making Dh take a sick day.He doesn't know yet, as he is still at work....

I know someone who had twins and didn't know it until 12 hours before they were born. One of the babies was "tucked" in behind the other and they never heard 2 heartbeats until that app't. Then, she had an u/s and it confirmed twins.
So, it is TOTALLY possible.
I expect an update as soon as you get home too!!

In my last DDC, there was a mama who birthed her babe (at 41 weeks no less), felt more contractions, started to push out what she THOUGHT was the placenta, and then announced, to the startlement of everyone around "This is NOT a placenta!" She had two good-size twins - I think both were over 7 lbs and one was over 8 lbs, and there had been no overt signs. So... it's certainly possible!

Oh man, this is freaking me out! We decided to not US this pregnancy and since my MIL is a twin and our good friends just had twins, it has come up numerous times. I am so sure we don't have twins, although after reading what you have all written, I think there is a slight chance. This pregnancy has been so much harder (ms, fatigue, anemia, discomfort, etc.) and I am a lot bigger than last time. And I feel tons of movement.
I'll defnitely check this thread again to see KindRedSpirit's US results...it's cool you have such an awesome attitude about the possibility. I'm not quite as okay with it as you are...
