has anyone used herbs and/or accupuncture to help conceive?

I'm turning 40 on Friday and have been TTC since Feb. I was able to conceive twice on clomid but miscarried both times. I just completed my 2nd cycle with injectables and had no luck.

A friend of mine swears by chinese herbs. She is confident this is how she was able to get pregnant with her 2nd child.

Anyone else BTDT?

I tried TTC with acupuncture for 2 full cycles...it lengthened my luteal phase for the first one and with the second one, I spotted from CD 12 - 28, so I decided to stop.

I never tried herbs, though. I have heard wonderful things about both acupuncture and herbs used concurrently, so it's definitely worth a shot. GL!

I see an acupuncturist. After the first month of acu, the mid-cycle spotting stopped and the clotting was lessened. I've been going for several months now, and no spotting since that first month, no clotting, and PMS symptoms have lessened.

I had extra sessions pre and post IUI (I'm in the 2ww from my first IUI) and will let you know how it went when I find out.

I read the book THe Infertility Cure by Radine Lewis while trying for our second, it recommended accupuncture, exercises and diet changes/herbs. I couldn't afford actual accupuncture, but the book showed the points to stimulate, so I did accupressure to myself. I did that and the diet in the book for 3 months (after over 2 years of ttc), and at the end of those 3 months used clomid and got preg that cycle and had my son. I swear that following that book's advice is what got me prego.

BTW- the advice it gave me was a bit overwhelming at first- so I made changes bit by bit, not all at once to my diet.

Another thought- I had some spotting during my pregnancy with ds, and was put on progesterone suppositories to help keep my pregnancy- no clue if that is relavent to you, but thought I'd share.

YES YES YES!!!!! I did use accunpucture to help me get preg. I swear thats what did it for me.

I went to a woman who was an accupuncturist and had fertility probs herself - she was told she will never be able to get preg. So she looked into the reproductive aspect of accupuncture and began treating herself. She just had her 3rd baby. She also is a chinese herbalist.

This was my treatment:
-an extensive Q & A session & exam.
-3 diff herbal mixtures prepared specifically for me - not a 1 size fits all treatment.
-one was from 1st day of cycle to end of period, next was from end of period to ovulation day and the last was from ovulation to start of new cycle (or preg
-they were powdered herbs. I mixed with hot water. some were ok & some were gross. but you do what you have to do.
-accupuncture treatments once a week. to save $ I skipped the treatment that would fall right after ovulation. So I went 3x a month.

It was a hassle but I swear it worked.

I'm sorry you've found yourself here. Dealing with fertility issues really stinks, and most of the women here ... myself included ... have been through the wringer. Having just gotten a wallop of bad news that you didn't expect, I understand that you are reeling. Take some time to digest the information, and then you can begin to plan.

Again, I'm sorry you're going through this, but I hope after you digest the bad news, you'll begin to see some reason to hope. I have been trying hard to get pregnant and I tried so many affordable options, and nothing really helped but this book I bought from the Fertility Clinic website. It's a natural way to overcome infertility. I read this book and it helped me so much.

I just began acupuncture last month for horrible headaches and stress. I dont yet know if I am infertile, but I do know that the treatments have worked miracles on my other problems. I will be treated this cycle for early spotting if it happens again, but my dr. does not think it wise to treat a symptom. Acupuncture strives to clear blockages in your body- sometimes they are not directly in your repro system, but they affect it. So I say its worth a try! Even if you just feel more relaxed as a result it will help you to become fertile.

My doc has also started me on many new supplements and replaced my prenatals with a better brand ( I was using Rite-Aid).

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs helped me get pregnant. Within a month of initiating treatment, my cycle lengthened from 22-24 days to 28 days, and locked in like clockwork to a 28 day cycle. We then found out that we were also facing MF issues. We conceived our son a month after my DH began TCM treatment.
