Hysterical mom here re: rabies.. - Page 2

Is the dog owned? If so, there is virtually no chance of the dog being euthanized. Really, dogs go through rabies quarantine all the time.

If the dog isn't owned, it'll likely be held through quarantine and any legally required period to try to locate owners. If no owners are located, then it IS likely the dog will be euthanized, because there's too many dogs in shelters, and most of them are pit bulls and there's not exactly a huge line of people waiting for them.

But that is still not your fault, so you have no need to feel guilty.

No one knows if the dog is owned or not. The woman who found the dog put up multiple signs around the neighborhood describing the dog she found. No one has contacted her yet. I even saw it posted at our library. Although I love animals, with a young child and other young children in this neighborhood, a random dog (no matter what breed) can't be wandering around so I would have called animal control anyway. It doesn't need to be hit by a car or get into a fight with a dog out for a walk on a leash. So far so good with the dog in quarantine- no signs of anything odd.
