Is the dog owned? If so, there is virtually no chance of the dog being euthanized. Really, dogs go through rabies quarantine all the time.
If the dog isn't owned, it'll likely be held through quarantine and any legally required period to try to locate owners. If no owners are located, then it IS likely the dog will be euthanized, because there's too many dogs in shelters, and most of them are pit bulls and there's not exactly a huge line of people waiting for them.
But that is still not your fault, so you have no need to feel guilty.
