Odd question about comforters....

My favorite aunt is coming to visit over Thanksgiving and I asked her what bedding she prefers (along with other such questions).

Her answer is somewhat mystifying for me... I thought maybe someone here would understand her request and be able to word it differently for me... perhaps???

She said she likes lightweight, warm, and quiet bedding.

She is 70 years old and I want to make her as comfortable as possible. Got any ideas for me???

I have the following:

heavy, but loose weave cotton blanket
lightweight acrylic
down comforter
hypoallergenic "down" comforter (fake down??? I don't recall what is in it, but DD likes it because it is less warm than the real down, but DD runs HOT and my dear aunt runs cold)
fleece "throw" (It is large because I made it myself and would easily fit on the bed. We happen to use it in the living room as a "throw".)

I guess I am most perplexed by the "quiet" request. She does not use a top sheet, so that is easy. What else makes "noise" while one is sleeping?

Thanks!!!!

Sometimes Silk and some poly comforters make a rustling noise. I'd go with the fleece blanket and the down comforter too.

Oh I know. We have a few sets of quilt covers from Ikea. They're 100% cotton and feel very nice, but they seem to be a bit stiff and make a rather crunchy noise when you move. Especially the ones with higher thread counts. The $25 ones don't make noises, they're rather limp to start with. They do get better as they get washed more. I think if you give her a down comforter with older covers that are quite soft, that should meet the "quiet" requirement.

THANK YOU MAMAS!!!

I will pull out an old comforter cover for the down comforter and also have the fleece available for my aunt.

We do have new Ikea duvets and now I am wondering if that is why DD doesn't like hers. She picked it out and it goes well in her room... Hmmm... I'll have to ask her some more questions about why she doesn't like it and wash it more often to see if that'll help.

Funny, when i saw "quiet" I immediately thought of no busy prints or patterns. I know it sounds funny but my na-na had a horrible time sleeping on anything but solid colored sheets and blankets. It could be pitch black and the woman would swear she could see the colors and it would make her 'nuts'.
:
Why not call her back and just re-confirm with her what exactly she means... make sure there are not any 'generational' gaps.

Hmmm... I wonder.... Good thought! Thanks! I don't think I have any busy prints or patterns...

In any case, we are communicating via email, which is why I have these questions in the first place. LOL She's not a fussy person, so I am not actually "concerned". I just want to make her feel comfortable.

"quiet" might also refer to what's under her. Some mattress covers are LOUD.

Oh, yes, another good thought. Thanks! We do have one mattress pad that I think is "crinkly" for that bed and, thankfully, one that makes no sound when I make that bed. I'll be sure to have the quiet one on for her.
