What does this mean? (crochet ?)

I am working on this sock pattern. http://www.crochetandknitting.com/babysock.htm

I am confused when I come to this part though:

You now have a tube shape of ribbing. To start the foot of the sock, with right side facing you, ch 1, 1 sc at base of ch 1, 1 sc along each end of ribbing rows, ss to join to first sc at beg. (29 sc)

The part in red. I'm not sure if it just means 1 sc in each st along the bottom of the ribbing part or what??

Thanks!!

Yes, that exactly. You'll put a single crochet into the side of each of the SC rows you've already done (which is now the bottom of your tube).

Thanks! I'm still a bit confused...but I've never attempted a sock before, so I guess it's going to take some getting used to.

I just saw the pattern on your site (for baby socks). I think I'd like to try it instead, but what if I'm not using sport weight yarn? I'm using 100% cotton, will that make a difference?

Sabra - your shorts pattern - can it be done in wool as a wool diaper cover?

silly me, I thought I'd be knitting/crocheting wool soakers this whole pregnancy ... oops, not much time left!

thanks

Kim, the socks will come out bigger if you use cotton yarn, but that might be advantageous. Tell me what problem you're having with the pattern you're working with now & I'll try to help.

Jrabbit, honestly I cannot say; I used 'sposies with all my kids, so I don't have experience with what makes a good soaker. The legs are kinda loose on them, and that seems to go against most of the soakers I've seen. If you worked a front post double crochet/back post double crochet on the legs instead of a straight HDC, that would give them a ribbed effect & should narrow them down some, but I can't make any promises as I haven't tested it that way.

I wish someone would tell me what makes for a good soaker; it's a pattern I've been wanting to come up with, but I just don't know enough about it to do a good job!
