Not only did Obama win...

But Carolyn slept 6 hours last night! : There is hope for the future! Previously she had only been going for 2-3 hours at a stretch. She gets both BM and supplemental formula, so she should have been going a little longer. Now maybe I can start getting enough sleep so I can recuperate from this nasty cold.

Congratulations Alison! I admit I'm jealous.

I love this quote I just found:

When the results came in, I reminded my husband he didn’t have to make those choking sounds — he could just go ahead and cry. I can’t even take in yet how important this is. Charles Blow is right — this is hope and pride for all of America. Whatever happens next, we will never be the same.

Congrats to Obama and Carolyn!!

Definitely one to tell her about when she is older. "You were so relieved about Americas future, that you were finally able to relax and sleep!":

Isn't it great to think that our babies might grow up thinking anyone can run for president?

Haha, yeah. She pretty much fell asleep right after the results.

Considering my baby was conceived after a long day of working hard on getting Obama to win the CA primary last January, my hat's off to you for Carolyn sleeping longer last night! Bryson slept in my arms as I watched his acceptance speech and cried. I'm still shocked and soooo sooo pleased.

I got a little teary eyed last night too looking down at my beautiful girl while feeling hope for the future. :

Iris fell soundly asleep as the results in PA were being projected. I guess she figured Obama pretty much had the election at that point, LOL! She didn't even flinch when dh popped the champagne once it was called for Obama...and she even let me have a glass!

:Hooray for Obama, Carolyn, and all children who can now truly believe that they can indeed be anything that they want to be in this life!

Please keep in mind that discussion of politics belongs in the Politics forum. We've found that having these conversations outside of politics leads to divisiveness and inevitably makes some members feel unwelcome.

I don't want to stop a thread that's already in progress, but I do need to ask that there be no further political discussion.

Discussions about babies sleeping through the night, however, are welcome!

How utterly amusing/eerie that so many of our babes chose that night to sleep!

Luke crashed out from 11p-4a, then I broke my #1 cardinal rule (Never, short of a fire or other natural disaster wake a sleeping baby) and chickened out and woke him up to nurse.

Yeah, I've never had to worry about the "never wake a sleeping baby" rule, since Carolyn isn't much of a sleeper yet.

i had one of the worst nights of sleep last night

I have a little cold, Annie is just a month old and is a little congested (bm has done wonders though) and my 21 month boy was puking first and now his nose is like niagra falls and he's got a cough. Did I mention we are moving in 2.5 weeks. I'm hoping this passes quickly.

Well, I guess it was a one time deal, cause Carolyn had a rough night last night. Oh well. It was a nice glimpse at things to come.
