I learned how to do entrelac with a dishcloth pattern. I just didn't do any side triangles, so each row ended up 2 rectangles shorter than the row before. I think I started with 25 base triangels. Then I used a lace edging pattern from http://www.woolywest.com/notebook_shawl.html
