Not sure, but I took Fenugreek with Effexor and Wellbutrin. I think prolactin, the main hormone that helps with milk production, is more closely tied to dopamine, which Lexapro, working exclusively on Seratonin, isn't so involved in.

Wellbutrin, on the other hand, does deal with dopamine, so I stopped taking it for a little while, and when I restarted around 4 months pp, I didn't see any change in production, and I was pumping 3x/week so I could see.

I'm on paxil. My psychiatrist said that there weren't any direct contraindications, but she hasn't seen any studies on it either. So she said as far as she knows, it is okay. Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer. I am taking a little also.

I am taking the Lexapro for anxiety, and was interested in the fenugreek for increased milk production.

I was on Paxil for anxiety and took Fenugreek for milk supply with no issues whatsoever.

If you're feeling stable, and your dose of Lexapro is working for you, I'd try it. Keep track of your mood and if it worsens greatly, stop the Fenugreek. Remember to drink enough and to get enough rest too, as those help. (And add oatmeal to your diet.)

I did a quick little search on the site where I get my supplements (they have lists of drugs that interact with each other), and Lexapro was not on the list for drugs that interact with fenugreek (some that were are glipizide, heparin, ticlopidine, and warfarin). However, I would definitely check with your doctor first, since you don't want to mess with the effectiveness of the Lexapro, especially with a new little one and all the changes. If all is good, make sure to drink lots of water with the fenugreek to help increase its effectiveness. And give it a little time to work (a couple weeks).

Lexapro is commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, why you use it to increase your milk supply
