Ideas for relieving nausea, etc. - Page 2

Banana Girl...that's a really interesting idea. Part of me can't fathom eating meat like that during the day when the nausea is the worst (and I am normally a big meat eater) but I have a freezer full of delicious grass-fed meat so I might as well give it a try.

How long does it last? Do you keep it on warm for several days?

I leave it cooking for as much as 2 full days and then package it up in tupperware, heating a little bit in the microwave literally takes 1 minute and you don't have to prepare and smell the cooking of meat.

Really anything you can cook in mass quantities and eat in little bits works... Chili for instance is chock full of protein... but I'll admit the beans kinda gross me out right now. I just froze a bunch because I wasn't eating it fast enough.

I know thinking about "meat glop" sounds horrible, but it sure makes a difference for me, hope it helps someone else...

Peppermint oil sounded nice, I wonder where I should look for some?

Nibbling frosted mini wheat "big bites" when I am first up in the early morning or in the middle of the night nursing.
Small chupa-chips or charms type pops the really tiny ones (big things in my mouth make me gag)

So, I'm going to get some papaya enzymes and some more ginger stuff, but in the meantime, are Tums okay for the indigestion?
TUMS are safe and fine to take in pregnancy, but not ideal. In the long run, they will actually make indigestion/heartburn worse. This is because they alkalize your stomach, and the stomach needs to be acidic, not just in order to properly digest food, but also in order to better absorb calcium (which is one of the ironies of TUMS, since many use them as a source of calcium, but they are very poorly utilized as such because of their alkalizing effect).

Papaya enzymes are a much better choice. You can also try a shot of apple cider vinegar. Sounds weird, I know, but it really does help so often.

Okay, awesome - I'll get the papaya ASAP...and before taking Tums, maybe I'll try some Bragg's ACV. I have some in the fridge, and have taken it straight before - though never for indigestion. Worth a shot, for sure!

Last time it was carbs - crackers, chips, bread, anything with enriched bleached white flour pretty much - and I gained 7 pounds by the time I was 7 weeks pregnant! This time, the idea of that stuff kinda grosses me out, but I'm eating it anyway because it's easy. I think I'm gonna get some of those preggy pops, and as grossed out as I thought I would be, that meat glop sounds like a good idea! Sounds way way way better than carbs right now! Maybe I'll make some stew for dinner...

Hey, sour fruit Preggie drops just helped me out. I didn't expect it to work, and maybe it was psychological, but I've been feeling really bad all day and now I feel relatively able to maybe eat dinner.

I just ordered some of the preggie pops organic drops! I'm looking forward to giving them a try. Sour things are really appealing to me. I just finished off the last of the pickled cherries that I made this summer. Next will be the pickles that I canned, I think, or some pickled figs.

i've only had a couple of minor bouts so far ( i'm 6 weeks on saturday) with today being the worst-smells have just about knocked me out! so far my list is...

eating (but not too much.)
ruffles potato chips
ichiban noodles (wth? i haven't eaten these since university and i actually bought a CASE at costco this pm!)
ginger candies (i need to get more)
getting as much sleep as possible ( not so much last night which may be contributing to the nausea today)
wearing maternity jeans- i can't stand having my guts and crampy uterus all squished in behind a button.
avoiding places with lots of people.

*groan*

do you get used to it? or does it get better? I feel awful and it's getting worse every day. I feel like ALL my concentration and energy is going into not puking! I can't imagine getting nothing done at work for the next two (or 8!) months...

I am having a hard time imagining functioning as long as morning sickness persists. All I've been doing is sitting at home in front of the TV or computer, eating when i can eat, taking naps...how am I ever going to get anything done? I'm supposed to be getting a hair cut and going to the store today to buy things like ginger brew (for the nausea!) but the thought of doing things is sort of overwhelming. And I can't afford to live on Preggie drops, even though they seem to help - maybe sour candy? My poor teeth!

I'm right there with you ladies. This truly sucks!

It is still not as bad as last time, but I still can't take it!

The thing that is hardest for me is that when I do eat, I feel normal and fine, but practically ALL food has lost it's appeal, and more than that, actually sounds disgusting to me. So, I am struggling all day to figure out what I can eat so that I will feel better.

It will get better, it WILL get better.....

It's surprising but what I've found to help a little is to do some visualization exercises as I'm going to sleep. . or during those times that I wake in the night. Seems if I'm relaxed enough I don't feel the nausea as badly and it allows me to do "walk throughs" of what I'll eat the next day, at least for breakfast. Sometimes lunch.

Interesting. I think I will try that myself tonight (the visualizations).

I feel like sometimes once I feel a tiny twinge of nausea, I tend to focus on it and it grows. It doesn't help that these days, I don't have much going on, so I can hang around the house all day and focus on how my belly feels.

A friend of mine just sent me some of the Earth Mama Angel Baby Morning Wellness Tea, so I'm going to give that a try. It is perfect tea weather over here!
